Vehicle Detail
For Sale; My 2007 Triumph Thruxton 900. (Too many projects.) Of course there's a reserve. Kelley Bluebook for a stock, excellent '07 is $5510. I'm the first owner. NOTE: Below, "Custom" (CST) means I made the part. "Aftermarket" (AMK) means I bought it. Cosmetics; Easily a 95%+ bike. There are a very few irregularities, but you'll have to look hard to find them. See pics. She got knocked over in a parking lot, and has a couple small scratches on the right motor cover, see pic 11. Pretty much invisible. I had replaced the stock brushed alloy motor covers with Triumph chrome ones. Shortly thereafter, I fabbed custom frame sliders to protect the shiny, expensive bits. Also in the cosmetic category; the fairing, custom brake reservoir, and custom gas cap. I replaced the stock mudguards with custom polished light alloy, and the tail light with a Lucas type AMK unit. Fabbed custom footpegs. Stock side covers, seat cowl and seat hold down are allens, have to carry a wrench. Replaced first two with hand screws, the seat hold down with button release pins. Mechanical; Better and quicker than stock. The motor is internally stock, to retain reliability, but it responds very well to breathing improvements. The factory airbox and air injection have been removed. On the intake side, there are custom velocity stacks, with K&N filters. The stock rubber carb adapters have been replaced by custom alloy rings matching throat diameter. The exhaust is aftermarket, British Custom's "Predator" silencers (Stainless.) Lovely deep growl, but they don't attract cops. Hotter "Nology" coil. These mods give a very appreciable increase in power. When you move more air, you have to add more fuel, how much more is a pretty good indicator of power. The stock #110 main jets are now #150! The bike is quick! The jetting seems about perfect, I'd leave it alone. Nothing mechanical (or on the entire bike,) has failed, except bulbs, in 17k miles. She has never failed to start, and only once stopped on the road, when I ran her out of gas. She has been utterly reliable. Maintenance; The break in oil/filter was changed at 100 miles and 500 miles (Castrol GTX), then changed to full synthetic (Shell Rotella 5w40, $22/gallon at Walmart) at 3000. The Rotella and filter have been changed at 3000 mile intervals since, next due 18000. There isn't much other maintenance. Brake pads are new. Tires: Pirelli Sport Demons (excellent.) The front is 1/2 worn, the rear new 100 miles ago. Wheels checked for true and balance at every tire change. I've seen 120 MPH a couple times, and she's rock solid, no sign of steering instability. Suspension/Steering; The clip-ons have been moved from under the top triple clamp to above it. This raises the bars by 2" while lowering the front of the bike by 1". To maintain the stock geometry, I installed Hagon rear shocks, 1" under stock. I find this riding position very comfortable. The stock fork is under-sprung, and has poor rebound damping. Installed 13mm preload spacers, and YSS-PD fork valves. I'm now very happy with the suspension. Electrical; Stock except I disabled the clutch and sidestand "safety" switches. I don't need a Nanny Gubbamint adding things to my bike to make it not run. Relocated ignition switch to right side. Replaced idiot lights with LEDs, visible in daylight, and installed beepers on turn signals to remind me to turn them off. Halogen headlight, and AMK turn signals chosen to be unobtrusive. Again, system has been stone reliable. Rider; Riding since 1965, I know how to shift. I don't slam shift, don't do wheelies, stoppies, or burnouts. I'm 65 fer Pete's sake! (I still get speeding tickets.) Terms of Sale; $500 deposit via PayPal from successful bidder within 2 business days. Balance within one week by Wire Transfer, or cash. No "creative" payment methods, please. Bike can be picked up in Bayville, NJ. You must arrange shipping, I will work with your shipper. I just had a bike shipped OH to NJ, $560, took 10 days, fairly painless. I can provide that Shipper's address. Scams will be refused and reported. Information; Call Dave at 732-269-5752 or Email redhawk34(at)comcast.net with questions, or to inspect bike. Do not ask me to sell outside Ebay while auction is in progress.
