Vehicle Detail
Very straight and original 1958 Chevy 3100 Apache half ton short bed with VERY little rust history (and it's already been repaired) . This pickup truck is currently a very solid driver and represents something you can enjoy as-is, restore, or hot rod. The engine is a 1963-1989 Chevy straight six with a very sanitary installation (however, a small block V-8 would be a bolt-in swap). This is the only non-original component to the running gear; everything else is stock including the 4 speed manual transmission, rear differential, manual brakes, and manual steering. It's a 12 volt electrical system with an alternator and it starts up promptly (with a small puff of blue smoke-just valve guides), accelerates, shifts, steers, turns and stops properly. The newer radial tires definitely contribute to its drive-ability. It also has a new exhaust system. And the clutch works great but the pedal has some side to side movement that you don't notice when driving. Vacuum windshield wipers work and all of the lights work except one high beam. The interior is in very good condition (please see pics). A prior owner painted it red and white and added seat belts. It has a rubber floor mat and a horse blanket seat cover over the original upholstery. The headliner is in place and it may be original as well. There is a small area of corrosion to one side of it. Heater and heater fan both work. Gauges other than speedo and odo work. Previous owner put an aftermarket gauge set in the location where the radio used to be. Other than that, the dash is in good, original condition. The windshield has a crack on the passenger side as do the wing windows (flat glass) and one door window (also flat glass). As you know, this is a short bed, half ton truck. They are typically the most desirable of all. This one is solid with all panels in good shape and the rusty areas (which were minor) pretty much fixed. It has new cab corners in the rear. The front corners have had minor work but need finishing. The running boards have had some repair they didn't appear to need and the floor boards are very solid. The bed and rear fenders are in good shape as well. It has plywood flooring in the bed and an extra layer of metal on the bed walls. BTW-I have 89 pics of this truck, many are taken from underneath so you can see how solid everything is. Please ask me to send them to you. This is a great truck. It even has the Chevy bow-tie logo on the baby moon hubcaps. And as you may already know, the big surprise this past January at all the auto auctions in Scottsdale was how much bidders were willing to pay for vintage trucks. They say a rising tide lifts all boats. You may not only be bidding on a cool driver/toy/project, you may also be bidding on an investment... who knows? Please contact me with all your questions. My name is Chris and I can be reached at 435-669-1470. The truck and I are located in the dry, desert community of St. George, UT (about 100 miles north of Las Vegas). Thank you very much for your interest.
