Vehicle Detail
I AM RELISTING my 58 Ford pickup lowered the buy it now and the resrve by $500,there has been a lot of interest in the truck but it didnt hit the reserve so I lowered the price. It will not be lowered again if it doesnt sell I will cruise it over the summer and take it to Carlisle I bought it about 18 months ago to restore and cruise, but now unemployment forces me to sell it.The original owner passed away and I bought it from his wife, it sat in there yard about a year when I purchased it.The first thing that was done is I hired a well known body man here to completly redo the truck, his first job was to remove every inch of paint on the truck, once that was done we inspected the body and found it was very solid with hardly any rust and no body filler,he worked on the truck a little each day for almost 10 months, he put in new steps and risers, cab mounts, some floor panels and one patch on the drivers side fender, the bed was pulled off the truck frame scraped and painted then all new metal was welded over the old floor body worked and smoothed out then it was coated with roll on liner. As the body work was being done I pulled the motor and sent it to one of the best mechanics in the area to go over and freshen it up, The motor is a 72 Cobra Jet 351 Cleveland with a 4 bbl holley with a FMX transmission, after it was tore down he contacted me and told me it must have been just rebuilt because it was in very good shape and needed nothing, I contacted the owner and she verified that her husband just had it rebuilt just prior to his death.I reinspected the motor with the mechanic and we determined since it was already torn down to replace the timing chain with a Cloyes double roller and a Melling oil pump, since he wasnt happy with the stock items, it has a comp solid cam with lifters and screw in studs. He rebuilt the motor with all new gaskets and all new freeze plugs. He then rebuilt the Holley carb, I then started purchasing new parts for the truck, the following items are NEW, parking light lenses, battery and cables, solonoid, voltage regulator, distributator (points type),brand new windshield and rubber, brand new back glass and rubber, brand new side glass and wing windows and window tracks in doors, new window fuzzies, new door weatherstrips, inside and outside door handles, inside window cranks, grant steering wheel, gauges in dash, radio antenna, carpet,B&M floorshift,it has high back bucket seats from a dodge van along with a consol, new Holley blue pump, new tires with only about 25 miles on them, baby moon hubcaps, beauty rings, wheel cylinders, brakes, tailight lenses , mufflers and probably a few more items. The custom paint took a long time to do considering all the tapeing involved but the body man hit it right on the money, really did a great job then he proceded to custom paint the tool box and also did a great job.Once all the paint and mechanical was dont I drove it to by garage (approximently 25 miles) and thats where it has sat. I have plenty of photos of every step of the rebuild, I posted a lot but if you need more just let me know, The color in the photos looks blusish but it is actually Turoquoise and White (stock 59 Ford Truck colors). There are still a few things that need to be done there is no radio or speakers, it will need a heater (old one leaks), hook up emergency brake i have the rear piece it needs the front, possibly a front end alignment, it tracks straight and runs very smoothe but has about 1 inch play in the steering, there are no rattles , no squeeks in the truck when you hit a bump in the road you hear nothing solid as a new truck, we took a lot of time to make things right, this is not the typical slap it together truck considering I planed to keep it a long time.If I can answer any questions just let me know.Although I have described everything honestle as with a used item I cannot give a warrenty, the winner is responsible for shipping , a $500 non refundable deposite due within 5 days of the end of auction, balance due within the following 5 days. I will be more than glad to hold the truck in my garage for as long as you need me to once the truck has been paid for, good luck happy bidding I have had a lot of people from out of state wanting to come here and drive it home, some were as long as a 4-6 hour drive, I dont recommend driving it that far right off. It has only about 25 miles on the motor, if you win it ,pay for it but once it leaves my driveway its all on you.I dont doubt it would make without any problems, it really drives great but I still recommend towing but its yuour choice thanks
