Vehicle Detail
This vehicle has been parked in a two sided carport since 1997 with a non opt. The old man that it was purchased from has owed it since 1958 or 1959 he could not recall. He said everything was original, but I did not check to see if the numbers were all matching. I had bought several cars from him and everything he has told me about this car and others I had bought were true. He said this car runs good and it does, he said the transmission works good and it does, he said someone had stole the rag top out of it and sure enough its missing. We drained the old gas out of it, checked the water and oil, but a battery in it and within just a few cranks of the starter and it came right to life. I was surprized at how smooth it ran after sitting that long. It sounds like it might have a small hole in one of the muffers or a exhaust leak where the pipe connects to the exhaust manifold. The body is pretty much completely straight outside of a few minor scratches here and there. All the windows are in good shape and all the chrome is straight. The floor boards are solid except for some very minor surface rust behide the seat, We found no rust at all in the truck area, however we did find a small amount of rust a long the rear trunk lid, this to was minor. One of the fender skirts had a small spot of rust and a couple other spots around the wheel well. What minor rust was found was just that minor! Now like I said this car has been sitting in a carport since 1997 and some of the exterior chrome does have some surface rust as seen in the pictures. The interior chrome also has minor surface rust due to sitting in the open carport all of which can be cleaned and re chromed none of it serious just minor surface. This is the perfect car if your looking to restore or just fix it up. No matter what you choose to do with it the fact remains the same, it can be driven away. I did notice that the water pump was leaking a little, so I'm sure that would need to be replaced. The air cleaner was missing and I already mentioned the small exhaust leak. The master brake cyclinder was empty so we filled it up and pumped the brakes a few times and had some brakes, but we did not bleed the brakes yet, We would only do that if the winning bidder wanted to drive the car rather than have it shipped. We are running this car with No Reserver! so it's going to sell no matter what. Somebody is going to come away with a sweet ride, maybe you! The winning bidder must pay $1000 at the close of the auction and the remaining balance will be due within 7 days or prior to picking up the vehicle. The winning bidder will pay all shipping cost.
