Vehicle Detail
1976 FORD F-150 4X4 FOUR SPEED manual w/ floor shift - all stock including original AM radio and cigarette lighter. 83,000 actual miles. Original color combination with correct RED tailgate logo and correct hubcaps. Repainted once by first owner. Zero accidents. This is a great running truck in exceptionally clean original condition. I purchased this truck 4 years ago from the family of the original owner. It came with 58,000 original miles, had hardly been driven in over 20 years and needed a carburetor rebuild and all sorts of minor servicing due to prolonged non-operation. It has been a fabulous trouble free vehicle. It is highly reliable, a pleasure to drive and inexpensive to operate. The original rubber pads on the gas, clutch and brake pedals as well as the original shift knob all testify to the vehicle's low miles. The factory paint under the hood is in great shape. The tailgate operates flawlessly. The transmission shifts smoothly and the original AM radio even gets excellent reception. The previous owner installed headers on the 390ci motor and added electronic ignition. Other than that there are no modifications. I have replaced the stock exhaust system and battery. When I purchased this truck I was advised of an intermittent loud lifter. The sound has come and gone but the engine performance has been great for the past 25,000 miles. It still makes that sound but this does not seem to be a major concern. Oil consumption has been relatively minor. Please keep in mind that this is the original V8 and has v=never been rebuilt. It does not seem to need anything at this point and runs like it will go another 80,000 miles without a sweat. The green interior looks great and the seat is in decent shape with no rips or worn areas. There is one crack in the dash pad. A replacement dash pad can be ordered from several suppliers. I prefer having the original. The door panels are in good shape as well. The clutch is near-new and in good shape. The brakes are new all around and the factory size Goodyear Wrangler radials have about 80% life left in them. There are two gas tanks and the gas mileage is pretty decent. There is a trailer hitch receiver and a trailer brake actuator mounted under the dash. I have never used either. The manual lockers operate smoothly and the 4 wheel drive has been exercised regularly since I've had the truck. It operates flawlessly in four wheel drive, hi or lo. The only negative things I can report is that there is some minor rust in a few odd places on the body as can be seen in my photos. There is no body rot under the truck or in the floor pan. Sometimes the horn works intermittently. When someone cuts you off the horn always seems to kick in just fine. There is a gouge in the upper right side front fender as can be seen in various photos. Other than that the body is good and straight. One piece of molding has fallen off the tailgate. It is a relatively inexpensive piece and aftermarket replacements can be found. The interior dome light doesn't work right now. All the exterior lamps and blinkers work as they are supposed to. The windshield wipers are fine. There is no windshield washer. This truck has never been pampered, modified or restored. The engine and it's compartment have never been detailed. It's a great vehicle without significant issues. This is the original engine with the original Carb. The carburetor was rebuilt 3 years ago. The engine has not been rebuilt.I apologize for the errors on my part as well as the many typos in my listing and responses. I have a work invoice here that lists the motor as a 390 with 4bbl. They had it wrong and I copied it. Today I took it in to a vintage Ford specialist just to make sure I get it right this time. Please email with any additional questions or to point out further errors on my part.
