Vehicle Detail
This is my 1995 Mustang Cobra R. Number 234 of 250. Cobra Rs were only built in 1993, 1995 and 2000, very few each time. The 95 was only sold to people who had some type of competition license, as Ford wanted them to be raced. The 95s having a 351 Windsor making 300HP and 365 Lbs/Ft of torque, were intended to compete with the Camaros. The 95 had the 351, a fiberglass hood, Koni shocks, a Tremec 5 speed, It was lowered and also used the original Cobra R wheels. It has an oil and power steering cooler. It has no back seat, AC, or power anything except steering and brakes. The brakes are also unique and larger than the standard 95 Cobra. The side air ducts for the rear brakes are real and the front fog lights were deleted to get air into the front brakes. They were all white with tan and black interiors. I am the second owner, I purchased this car on 9-9-97 from the original owner who lived near Detroit. The car had 315 miles on it at that time. I drove the car back to New Jersey and have used it only during the good weather. Each Fall, usually in November it is filled with fresh gas and fuel stabilizer, and placed on jack stands in my garage. I then remove the wheels, change the oil and filter, drain the radiator and re fill with fresh anti freeze, flush the brakes, replace as much of the power steering fluid as I can pull out of the reservoir. I then do a 3 step polish job, cleaner, glaze and two coats of carnuba wax.It then gets covered untill Spring. It only gets washed once a year, just before I put it away and as far as I know it has never seen rain. Some years like last November I drain and replace the transmission fluid, and the rear fluid, and change the fuel filter. I have also replaced the thermostat several times along with the by pass hose and the serpentine belt. I also have replaced the spark plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor. The air cleaner was replaced with a K&N specifically for the Cobra R. The car has some modifications. I removed the original wheels and tires, cleaned and stored them and replaced them with Ford Motorsport chrome 18" X 9.5" 2000 Cobra R wheels and presently have installed BFG TA KDW -2 265/135 R-18 tires. The original wheels and tires came off in 11-02 with 3658 miles on them. The car has a full Bassani stainless steel exhaust with a catted X pipe and 2.5" cat back. The rear was removed so I could remove the original exhaust without cutting it. At that time I had the gears professionally replaced with Richmond 3.73 street gears, along with a Richmond kit and an Auburn Carrier. I also replaced the spedo gear to match the new gears. Everything looked great in there when I removed the cover this last fall to replace the fluid. The car has a Pro 5.0 Power Tower Tremec transmission shifter. These cars come with Fuel Safe fuel cells. These have a bladder in them that sonner or later will leak. During 2-08 at 5120 miles I removed this fuel cell and sent it back to Fuel Safe to be rebuilt. I stored the cell and installed a new aftermarket tank in the car along with a new fuel pump and sender unit. I could not locate a nice used cover so I used a new white Glenns cover aling with chrome straps. This solves the problem of ever having to mess with the fuel cell unless you are planning to race the car and want to reinstall it. These cells cost a lot to rebuild. The car also has a set of Corbeau seats, and tracks. There is a radio installed using the factory wiring, which was already there and using the factory speaker locations. It has a cover that closes and closely matches the factory radio delete plate. The car also has an alarm system and an adjustable shift light. I have all the original parts stored and they come with the car. Although I live in NJ where a front plate is required, none has ever been installed and the bumper cover has not been drilled. I have all the receipts and records since I got the car.
