Vehicle Detail

This is a 1987 Saab 900 SPG with 17,800 miles on the odometer. We believe this to be correct or very closely accurate by professional inspection, BUT please read the entire description since there is a conflict which the previous owner could not completly resolve. I purchased the car on eBay and am very pleased with the car; since I have owned it I have spent about $1100 on MAF meter, new fuel pump, and minor adjustments to get it as perfect as possible. Our once (closed now) local Saab dealer has worked on the car and driven it himself and continues to tell me this is an original low mileage car. THE DESCRIPTON BELOW IS FROM THE LISTING I PURCHASED THE CAR BASED ON. I have and still own Saabs and this is by far the best! Unfortunately there is no way of knowing for sure, being able to prove beyond a doubt, that the mileage is correct, and I do not want anyone to purchase the car who might believe otherwise. "This car was purchased using the Military Sales program on April 9, 1987 (have the original paperwork and canceled check). It was shipped to Jacksonville FL on May 25, 1987. The original owner was in the military and away for extended periods of time. Records with the car indicate various services performed on the car in May 1990 at a mileage of 15,998. Sometime after that year or early 1991 the car was placed in a storage unit. In August 2005 the car was purchased by an individual at a storage auction (documentation of this included)." I will paraphrase the next section: "The original Pirelli tires have been replaced with new Michelins. The fuel tank, lines and injectors have been cleaned (I also replaced the MAF, fuel pump, and a few gaskets, and sending unit, about $1100, dealer serviced). The hydraulic flex lines changed and fluids changed. It starts right up, runs strong, idles well, and the GEARBOX SEEMS FINE. The check engine light occasionally comes on (NOT ANYMORE THE MAF WAS CHANGED) and the AC needs a recharge." "It appears that things were stored against the car as seen in some of the photos and there are minor surface rust spots as a result on the roof, the rear hatch has some surface rust and paint scratches. The funny spot in the clear coat on the hood looks worse in the photo than it actually looks (I agree), there are some light scratches on the hood and I made no attempt to buff them out. The carpets and rubber Saab floor mats are better than I have seen in years and the level of wear seems to confirm the mileage on the car." "For a 900 of this vintage the dash is exceptional. There is one tiny crack on the front side of the driver side speaker grill. When the car was acquired the reverse lockout and ignition was disabled (The dealer performed an Excellent adjustment on the shifter but left the reverse lockout untouched)." ( I will also add that the rubber shift boot is still soft to the touch and flexible no cracks, the plastic wind deflector is still bluish in color and unfaded, the power windows and sunroof are smooth and FAST, and the buttons show no finger wear.) "When title was transferred to the person the car was purchased from Florida refused to believe the mileage (insufficient records to document them) and marked it as in excess of mechanical limits." The person also says he is working on getting that resolved and the title I received from South Carolina was listed as 17,127 miles and it is registered in New York as a result at that mileage since NY accepts the prior title. SO, all that being said, this car is Awesome!!!! I was a little skeptical of the condition and mileage until we got it running great and the dealer wanted to buy it right then and there. SO regardless of WHATEVER THE MILEAGE IS, every professional who has looked at this car from every angle says all the suspension and items they would suspect as needing to be replaced as over 100K are original. If someone wanted to fool us they spent a great deal of time and money to do so. This REALLY is a solid fun spectacular car to own and drive. My overall feeling is that as a Saab this is a great car. If I keep it, it is going to my 19 year old son as a college car. BECAUSE I cannot find ANY car in this good a condition, with or without 17K miles for $6000, let alone an SPG Turbo with sunroof, the cool factor, and the sheer enjoyment of this car. I have an easy $6,100 in it without including what I spent for shipping and sales tax. PS: I have a great set of louvers and brand new lowering springs if the buyer is interested. The question will be why sell it, the answer simply is that I want a Corvette Grand Sport before gas goes to $6.00 a gallon. On Feb-13-12 at 12:52:29 PST, seller added the following information: I took a short iphone video today this is the link to it. Hopefully it will work properly. Both links go to the same video. http://youtu.be/i7hzG_lAMTc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7hzG_lAMTc
