Vehicle Detail
The BMW 2002 US VIN 2579308 was manufactured on November 18th, 1971 and delivered on November 25th, 1971 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City. The original colour was Colorado, paint code 002. The above info I got from the 2002BMWFAQ forum great source for advice, info, assistance and parts really great folks who adore and enjoy these cars, I purchased this car with the intent on fully restoring it but time no longer lends to my cause so I have to sell. many parts I installed and some parts came with the car when I purchased, the car has an electronic hot spark ignition, msd blaster coil, H4 hella headlight upgrades, recaro front seats, front and rear shock tower bars, poly bushings underneath only bushing missing is the bushing between the steering shaft and the box, stainless steel braided brake lines, custom aluminum radiator with electronic fan and sensor, corrected ground fix for bouncing gauge needles, car has unknown suspension but drives fine alittle hard on very rough roads but ok otherwise, I shortened the front bumper arms and the bumper itself so it tucks closer to body, matches nicely with the US spec rear bumper, all lights work, speedo does not work, when I bought the car the speedo gauge had no needle, I purchased another cluster but still no movement, did not investigate further due to the plans of a 5speed swap and the change of the speedo cable, car runs fine pulled the carb dis-assembled it and cleaned it all up, once warm it runs like a champ, choke was removed prior to my ownership, on cold days a few pumps of the pedal and it fires right up, could use a new exhaust my plans were to turbo so I did patch work, the 4speed shifter bushings are shot and the second gear grinds at high RPM, but car does drive and no nosie anywhere except the little rust holes in the exhaust, and the road noise that comes through the Air conditioning ports in the floor, car also needs the E-brake tubes cleaned or replaced, I purchased new cables but there seems to be rusted remnants of the old cables stuck in the cable housings, all hardware is still in the car though, everytime I take this car out I get a compliment or two and a few thumbs up. I have several parts for this car, boost brothers turbo manifold, 1983 320 fuel injected intake manifold with fuel rail and injectors (same engine) 2 5speed gearboxes, short shift kit (no longer available), E36 M3 5 speed gearboxes, Hid kit for the car, chrome side view mirrors both sides with the mounting hardwarde, M42 engine brackets to bolt the newer engine into this chassis, new rubber for windshield with new locking strip, all or some of these parts are negotiable with the sale depending on final sale price. THIS IS AN OLDER CAR it is not perfect far from it, the previous owner did some patch work on the floor boards to control the rust, The car came with carpet that was installed terribly with screws, not factory carpeting either so I ripped it out to get a better idea of what rust issues I had to deal with, the black carpet looked terrible with shiny self tapping machine screws, the passenger side floor is the worst part of the car, the doors have minor rust at the bottom not much, the trunk is fine, chassis legs are fine, the beltline trim was removed and from the looks of the paint it was not a great job, I have the lower rocker trim from the side that's missing in the pics, the black in the trunk is PUR 15, I coated that area when drilling to install the battery in the trunk, if this was done all over, the chassis would be fine, it seems the PO only used black paint to cover the floor that does nothing to stop, seal or control rust. I tried to focus more pics on the problem areas of these cars so as to not hide or give the new owner any surprises. please ask any and all questions prior to bidding, the car currently sits at a friends garage it is registered and can be test driven or driven to its new home within reason. the car is also being advertised locally so I may end the auction if it sells outside of ebay.
