Vehicle Detail

**Update Monday Feb. 13: Just uploaded a photo of the owner's manual that will go with the BJ42LX. It's in brand-new condition; even has the original unused yellow owner's reply card in it. It's from Canada, for the 1984 BJ42 diesel, the engine and mechanicals are the same. Cheers! Behold "Mjölnir"! Thor's Hammer, so named because of its OEM Toyota "Nordic Blue" paint color, and because like Mjölnir it's a weapon that levels mountains! Apologies for those who looked earlier. Due to the Aussie VIN, the auction was put on hold. VIN is BJ42003043. eBay's system will not allow this, hence the all-zeros. Note to eBay and all: this is an Aussie VIN, and they do not have 17 digits as US VINs do. --One-of-a-kind expedition-built 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ42 LX. The LX is the rarest of the 40/42 series, the LX model being the only Land Cruiser equipped with unique triple windshield wipers (which really help versus just two, by the way), zebra striped seats, and sliding rear windows, plus things like factory power steering, disc brakes, factory tachometer and digital clock. --Built tough for expedition use and daily driving, and used regularly. --The 3B (3.4L) diesel engine runs great! Coughs and grumbles on startup with puffs of white smoke if not run for a week, otherwise minimal smoke on start, clears quickly, and purrs smoothly. Currently getting around 25mpg. Low miles too! Only 185,200 original miles on this diesel. That's barely broken in for a Toyota diesel. --Factory power steering --Front disc brakes, rear drums --Aussie-spec H41 4-speed transmission with compound low first gear for extreme crawling. Clutch and all gears work great. --Rare factory tachometer works great --Factory digital clock --The truck had rusty front floors which I had cut out and replaced with correct new floor pans from Pacol with matching ridges, etc. Also had the B-pillars patched. Rear cargo area floor is fine. Surface rust on frame, no rot. Remainder is in areas where hard top meets the body, surface rust on body/fenders where paint has flaked away, random small spots. See photos. Additional nitpicks: windshield cracked, doors rattle, light oil leak (weeps engine bottom, but doesn't drip to ground), weatherstripping is loose on bottom of one rear door. Paint is acceptable at a distance but fatigued, spots on both sides flaked when a magnetic sign was removed and brought some paint with it (doh!), and various other flaking from age. Mostly cosmetic. Body panels are straight, no dents. --Aussie-spec full floater rear axle (US-spec FJ40s got semi-floaters) --Detroit Locker in rear! --High-clearance Perkins Performance rear bumper with swing-away tire carrier. The bumper is extremely well built, powdercoated, and rugged. Has receiver hitch built in, greaseable zerk fittings, and two recovery points. Beautiful bumper and can hold up to a 37" tire. --Sony stereo, comes with free CD that won't eject, the radio and front iPod input work great. Also has a remote control. Sony Xplod speakers in rear. --255/85-16 BFGoodrich KM2 tires (33") with less than 500 miles on them. --Toyota TRD bronze 16" wheels with security lug nuts --Factory Toyota hand throttle --Front bumper is pure Aussie roo bar, and it's a love it or hate it thing, right? I love it, it's aluminum alloy so it won't rust and doesn't weigh much, and it also lets me keep the jerry can holder. Plus it just looks badass rolling down the road, comin' atcha Aussie style! --A pair of Warn HID lights are mounted on the front bumper, and comes with a very handy wireless remote switch in the cabin. These HIDs throw some serious light at minimal amp draw. --THULE roof rack for expedition use --Safari Snorkel for deep water crossings --LX-spec zebra striped front seats accomodate three on a split bench. --Unique LX-spec triple wipers, which also have factory intermittent setting, unlike any US FJ40. --Cool Cruisers of Texas rear cargo mat --Hell-For-Stout 4" suspension lift (shocks and springs) --Original Australian New South Wales and personalized BJ42LX plates included --Various spare filters and parts included. Fresh glow plugs and filters installed. Glow plug pre-warm coil indicator on dash functions perfectly. --Security system --New battery --The 60" Hi-Lift jack is included, secured on a locking FJ Mount unit --Brand new, steel 5-gallon Wedco diesel jerry can is also included for long range exploration This BJ42 LX Land Cruiser has been a daily driver and offroader for me and it works great. Loyal and dependable, an extremely rare and unique LX--try and find those triple wipers, factory tach, digital clock, zebra seats, sliding windows, full floater axle, 3B diesel, etc on another 40-series! THULE rack, Detroit locker, steel diesel jerry can, 60" Hi-Lift, 4" lift, 33" BFG KM2s, H41 tranny, Safari Snorkel, all let you go downtown or down under with ease! She's a tough old bird, well set up, needs little to nothing for daily driving, reliable diesel Land Cruiser. 100% clear title. No PayPal, sorry. Cashier's check only. Thanks. Sold as is with no implied or stated warranties. No smogging required for a California owner, either. I welcome inspections, and happy to answer questions so fire away. No reserve. Thank you and good luck!
