Vehicle Detail
Pristine original Unbelievable unrestored condition not blemished or severely altered; always garaged, never in snow or salt, never smoked in or driven with the windows down, cloth / velour seats are not stained nor do they show wear [always covered with thick red terry towels]. I special ordered this car configured in unique manner, has most attributes of Calais model: gauge package [instument cluster with tachometer, etc.], sport suspension with rear sway bar, larger tire / wheel package, no pin stripes or vinyl top. Car is essentially a Calais except for bench seat [with passenger recline] and column mounted shift lever. Has quality leather "wheel skin" brand hand laced steering wheel cover, looks like factory installation. Car has original silver paint [not faded] no rust or dents / dings / chips. Chrome bumpers are original and not rusted like most from era. Powered by a [4.3 L.]260 cubic inch Olds (gasoline) V-8 engine with automatic transmission and 2.29: 1 differential. Car is original except: "Wheel Skin" one piece leather steering wheel cover laced on with cat gut like thread with no puckers or wear, radio / speakers, CB radio in ashtray location [I have ashtray] (see clean radio installation in pictures, has full dual exhaust system, "KYB" 200 P.S.I. gas shocks, H.D. replacement rear coil springs, and "Cibie" headlights with lead crystal lenses [no imperfections / distortions typical of OEM sealed beams [were deemed illegal when installed, except for off-road use].. Has full size spare tire as well as temporary "donut" and deluxe trunk liner with spare tire cover. 48,500 original adult driven miles, mostly highway trips of 100 to 500 miles, not used for work transport or stop and go in town "grocery getting" no door dings, etc. Has never been in a body shop. Has always been garaged and not driven in inclement weather. It is currently stored in a climate controlled showroom with other specialty vehicles. My intention was to show the car after retirement [which is in sight}. Circumstances have changed and going to car shows is no longer viable. Would like to see my cherished old girl go to someone that would appreciate it for the unique vehicle I have coddled and turned it into. "NADA" places the value of this car at $10,187.00 Average Retail, and $15,187.00 High Retail. Car falls within parameters indicated under High Retail. Midway between Average and High retail would be over $12,000.00. I have found similar 79`s for $9,500.00 and above. I am asking: $8,795.00 [Buy it now]. More pictures added, especially of immaculate interior which believe it or not still has slight smell inside as it did when new......it has been closed up it`s entire life. Pictures currently included do not do this car justice, though some do depict lack of rust at bottom of doors, edges of hood, around wheel openings, and trunk and chrome. Those who have seen the car have been shocked to learn that it is in fact original. The individual at my insurance company that took pictures of the car for antique status could not believe that a complete restoration had not been done. Even the blue paint on the engine is original, not repainted, nor has it been opened up / re-built..... Dare to compare!
