Vehicle Detail

1974 Honda CB-750 Four (CB-750-K4). Good running condition, no major problems. Current Location: Orange City, Volusia County, Florida. Actual Mileage: 68k. Most of these miles are “easy” miles, see description. Bike is currently registered and titled in California. Registration expires March 8, 2012. I have had this motorcycle since 1998 and have ridden it across the USA twice from Los Angeles to Pittsburgh, PA, and back. The machine is in good running condition with nearly new tires and chain, and newly refurbished seat. Does not leak oil. (You can leave the bike in one spot for several days, and there are no drops of oil under it.) Needs a bit of tuning and tweaking and some TLC. Most recently, I went on a 125mi. ride only a week ago with no problems. Rode a few short stretches at 75mph. The bike starts up at once, and idles smoothly at 1000rpm. Until this past autumn, I lived in California. Most of the miles on this machine are easy miles, logged while pleasure riding in the western deserts (hard roads, not sand). One of my favorite rides was from Los Angeles to Laughlin, Nevada, much of which was over old Route 66 in the Mojave Desert. Over the past 14 years, this bike and I have made that 650-mile round-trip more times than I can count (typically 6-7 times/year). I currently have three motorcycles and have recently retired and moved from to Florida. Since I do not have a place to store or work on bikes in my new place, I have decided that it is time to part with this old and faithful friend. Problems? Nothing serious, as far as I can tell. Compression good, doesn’t burn oil, gets around 40 miles/gallon, which is pretty typical for these machines. -Loose baffle in one of the mufflers. Makes a bit of noise, but does not affect performance. -Exhaust pipe on right side has some road-rash at end of pipes (visible in photo) but no significant rust. -Dents in both sides of the gas tank caused by a previous owner who decided to install the wrong faring and dented the tank to make the faring fit. (Stupid, I agree, but that’s the way it is.) -Sidecovers are cracked (restorable) and one emblem missing. -Carbs could use a good cleaning and refurbishing, which would probably improve performance a bit, but doesn’t have to be done right away. If you’re looking for a good classic bike for general transpo, or it you have restoration plans in mind, this is a perfect machine for you. The bike is currently in Orange City, Volusia County, Florida, which is about half-way between Daytona Beach and Orlando along I-4. Buyer can pick it up here and ride it home, or arrangements can be made for me to deliver it to your door by truck, providing buyer pays mileage and expenses. The photos tell the story. Look at them closely and decide if this is what you are looking for.
