Vehicle Detail

Porsche 944 PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU BID!!! Up for auction at no reserve is my wife's 1985 1/2 Porsche 944. The car is a non turbo 5 speed and the mileage is 103801. The mileage is original and I am the second owner - I purchased this from a good friend 8 years ago, and have put about 1000 per year on the car in the last few years. It was always garaged. Over the summer I put a new alternator on it, and I have 2 totes of additional parts that will go with the car. On another eBay ad I have the full 6 manual set from Porsche - these are the service manuals for the car. The car runs fine. You will notice that the drivers side has damage. In August when the hurricane passed through Maryland, local electricity was out for four days including the traffic signal close to my home. I was taking my oldest to college that day and rented a van and he was following while driving the Porsche - and a driver went through the intersection and hit my car broadside. I've been told that all it would need would be panel replacement for the door, front fender, and body work on the rear quarter. I've taken pictures to show the damage. To make matters worse, the insurance company tried to say that my son was at fault - hence we lost out. Here is more that I can think of: it has factory R-12 AC that is discharged, timing belt was done around 85000 miles, tires were new over the summer (right before it was hit), alternator is new. In addition I have two totes of parts that go with the Porsche. The interior is leather and has normal wear and tear for a 27 year old car. I am just not up to going through the process of getting it fixed or a restoration, so my loss can be your gain. Contact me via eBay if you have questions or need an additional picture. With this ad, I bought the picture pack (limited me to 24 shots and wouldn't let me add more!), but have more pics of the car. Bid with confidence. I cannot ship the car, but you can make your own arrangements. Read payment terms too - $500.00 down via PayPal (or the whole amount). No personal checks. Again - before you bid, read this carefully. On Jan-31-12 at 16:39:27 PST, seller added the following information: I've had a lot of questions and there have been over 500 looks and 50+ people are "watching" the car, so take a peek at the questions that others have asked and you may find the answer you are looking for. Here are a few other things that come to mind: The body panels with the exception of the driver door all line up just fine and open / close as they should. Originally I was concerned that the hood may not open properly, but it opens and closes just as it always has. There is no radio going with the car and I don't have the original. I also have the lid for the center console, it just became detached. The sun roof opens and detaches just as it should. As for the car overall, I know the original owner well and worked with him for years. He purchased it new and it has always been garaged and not driven in the snow. I've had it out in the rain once in 8 years and it didn't leak. The floor pans are intact and the car was tight. Exhaust- it has a header and catalytic converter and it has passed MD State inspection every year. There is no muffler - it sounds decent for running around town. The car originally didn't come with power seats, but the first owner purchased a second 944 and put the power seats in this car. As for the mark on the windshield - I tried rubbing it out with a green scrub pad but to no avail. Other than this mark (which is not a crack), there are no cracks in the windshield. You will have to re-adhere the rear view mirror back on - it came off when my son whacked it with his hand in the accident. Again, as a testament to how well the car was made, the accident could have been much worse, and the same impact on a new car of the same size would have certainly been an injury accident. On Jan-31-12 at 17:24:17 PST, seller added the following information: ------------------------------------------------------- OK- here's more. Fired it up on first try. Forgot to tell you that I put a battery in the car over the summer. For those with frame damage questions: Went for a drive on a flat straight piece of road near my home tonight. It drives and tracks absolutely dead straight. Took my hands off of the wheel and it still goes straight along. Tires took about a half mile to round out, but they still have the nubs on them from being new. Everyone has been concerned that the frame was bent, but the answer is no- the car runs just fine and tracks straight on. Kind of feel bummed to sell it, but I really don't have the time anymore to put into getting the damage fixed.
