Vehicle Detail
We all know that a painting can only be as good as the canvas it was painted onto. This car started with as good a canvas as could be found This all steel original car was completely frame off restored in 1990. It was a super nice original running car before the restoration which made it a super nice end product. I have gone over the car and can't find any bondo or body filler in any body panel. It has traveled over 30,000 miles since the restoration and was a daily driver for the guy that restored it before is death. Looking closely under the car, it appears that it was a city car and never saw any bad roads. The frame and undercarriage shows no sign of rust pits or corrosion. The black and white photos are of the car on the day I bought it in 2010 at the previous owners house. I know, cool pictures aren't they!! That house was built in 1929 and was the perfect setting for this plymouth. The Motor - Just perfect, starts easy, runs quiet and has amazing power. It doesn't leak, smoke, get hot......just runs After the car sits for a few days the battery must be charged to start and will start every day until i let it set a couple of weeks, so it needs a new 6 volt battery. I was going to replace with an eight volt battery. The Drive - it drives perfect!! and I mean perfect!!!! Motor cranks right up, the tranny works just like it should and it climbs our steep drive like a new one. The wheel cylinder on the left rear wheel leaks a little and I have the new cylinders for the rear wheels that i have never installed because the leak is so minor. The brakes work just like they should. I drive the car down some gravel roads where I live amazed at how smooth the ride is. The fluid drive is all there, all hooked up and works perfectly. Well, once I learned how to use it!!! All of the wide whitewalls are good, near new and the fifth one is under the cover below the rear window. The interior - is just as it was the day it was installed except for the carpet. The carpet is stained from daily driving and I have only ever vacumed it. It doesn't look worn, just used and would certainly clean up with shampoo. I thought about working on it before I tood the pics for this listing, but it shows the car is being used. What's cool is that there is a complete set of slip covers that identically match the seat upholstry that have been used very little so they are new. But, so are the seat covers, so all that is perfect. All of the dash and guages are the original ones for this car and need no restoration. Again, this began as a really nice car. The body - Well the paint is 22 years old and needs attention. The true color is not well depicted in the pictures. Both colors appear lighter than they really are in person. The lighter color on the body has a lot of crazing. The fender have some chips. I like the look and believe it is consistent with a car this age, but the car is otherwise so straight, most would want to paint it again. The good thing is that when you sand this one down to prep it, you are going to hit metal, nothing but metal. Exterior Trim - The front windshield frame is the only part on the car that is showing corrosion. It needs repair and re-chroming. It still tilts out smoothly with the hand crank and the glass is good. The bumpers have a couple of ticks on them that don't bother me because they are small. If you plan to take it on the show tour, re chrome them when you do the windshiel frame. The vinyl top insert was the victem of our cat!!!! I have purchased the material to replace it and I am too lazy to do it. Read up on how to do it and it doesn't look that hard. The grille is PERFECT!!!! It is certainly the focal point for this car and it draws attention. If I end up keeping the car I will put a new battery in and replace the cracked glass in the drivers door. All of the window regulators work perfectly. I am sure the car has been garage kept since 1990 and would bet it was for all its life. A little work would put it in the 90+ point show car status The buyer is totally responsible for transport. I will be glad to help load the car on transporter. It will load onto any trailer that is sent. I wouldn't be afraid to drive home. I reserve the right to end the auction early for local sale The car is nicer than the pictures show it and yes I hate to sell it. On Jan-28-12 at 07:39:12 PST, seller added the following information: This car has the original 6 cylinder for this car. I can't explain my lapse except for old age. I just changed the spark plugs about 3 months ago, so you would think I could remeber. thanks to the ebayer that told me to count my plug wires, but it did make feel pretty stupid and No, I'm not a crack-head.On Jan-30-12 at 12:05:35 PST, seller added the following information: Correction I just received a call from a knowledgable ebayer who said that this car did not have Fluid Drive in 1934 and told me that it is correctly called free-wheeling. After he described it as a knob on the dash that you push in that causes the car to free wheel while in motion, that sounds more like what happens. I will try to investigate on my own on the internet, but for now please use your own knowledge before you bid and if you can help me identify please let me know. All I know is that whatever that knob is called, it works!! I will also try to take some pics of the additional seat covers, water bag, oil filter cannister and all the NOS parts that go with the car.
