I drive every one of my sale vehicles and write a thorough description including the good and bad of the vehicle. An appointment MUST be made before coming to look at or test drive the vehicle. Up for No Reserve Auction is a 1998 Saturn SL2 sedan. This Saturn is powered by the fuel efficient yet sporty 1.9L 4 cylinder Twin Cam engine and 5 speed manual transmission. This drive train is capable of getting 40 mpg with a light foot, or if you have a heavy foot, a fun driving experience that won't leave you broke at the gas station. The engine fires right up, idles well, and revs easily all the way to red line. The clutch is strong and does not slip or chatter. The transmission shifts through the gears easily without grinding. The suspension is in good repair, no shaking, clunking, or pulling. The brakes stop straight and strong. This SL2 is painted bright blue. The paint is in decent shape for age and mileage. It has lots of small scrapes and scratches all over. Most of them should be able to be cleaned up with a deep buffing and polishing job, or they can be ignored. The majority of the Saturn body panels are made of dent resistant plastic which cannot rust. The glass and lights are all in good condition with no cracks or broken glass. The headlights are very clear and bright. The 15" wheels have a matching set of hub caps all around. They are in good condition. The BF Goodrich Traction TA tires provide good traction. The rear tires have about half life left, but the front tread is getting low on the outer edges. The tan cloth interior is in better than average condition for the age and mileage. The driver's seat has no rips or holes, only some discoloration and staining. The other seats also are untorn and have only minor staining. The tan carpet is in average condition. There is a full set of blue aftermarket floor mats. They have wear. The headliner is sagging, as is common for older Saturns, but it does not sag low enough to rub on my head (I'm 6ft). The power locks with keyless remote work as they should. The AM/FM stereo sounds good. There appears to have been some sort of aftermarket stereo installed previously, but the currently installed Saturn radio works fine. The heater warms up quickly and works in all positions and all fan speeds. As a dealer and a driver, I really like the older Saturns with the Twin Cam engine and manual transmission. No matter what the mileage, I can buy one at a good price, jump in, turn the key, and drive it without worrying about anything. There are very few things to go wrong with this engine/transmission combination and no parts are expensive. Keep up on the regular maintenance and this car should have another 50,000 miles in it easily.
