You are bidding on an ultra rare 1962 Rambler American Custom 2 door station wagon. Custom is the model designation on the tailgate, I am not calling it a "custom", although it does look pretty custom to me!! Not that many 4 door station wagon around, even less 2 doors! My dad and I aquired this car from the family of the original owner after his death. In addition to the car there are some spare parts that come with the auction. 2 near perfect front fenders to replace the ones on this car, they are a little rough, some extra side trim to replace the parts that are trim missing, and a few other misc parts you can see in the pics. This car is very original inside and out and has had very little modified over the years. It still has the inline OHV 6 cylinder motor and a 3 speed manual transmission with the electric overdrive. The car had been sitting for sometime so when we got the car we pulled and cleaned the gas tank, put an electric fuel pump on, new fuel lines and fuel filter. We also put some new tune up parts under the hood. The car will fire up, run, and go down the road, but we were not really able to get the carburator dialed in. It will need further attention mechanically to get it to run more smoothly and reliably. The generator charges, the lights and turn signals all work as do the brakes lights. The speedometer works to and the car is a real hoot to take for a ride. It is a little stubborn to start and doesn't like to idle very well. The brakes are good and it stops fine. The e brake works and the car sits on 4 nice used tires. It also has 4 factory chrome Rambler full wheel covers. We were able to get the overdrive solenoid to move in and out with power, but we not able to get the overdrive to kick in at speed. Just a few fun little characteristics of the little guy. The interior of the car is very complete as you can see from the pictures. There are not alot of these cars around so you cant be to picky on the condition. It needs a good home as time, money and space have become more important than this little Rambler. Look at the pics and email for more information. The car will need to be trailered or transported, it is not ready for a cross country trip. Car is selling as is where is, there are no warranties implied expressed or given. Please be ready to pay for and pick up the car within 2 weeks of auction close. I will help out in any way on getting the car to a local shipper, but buyer to pay all transport fees. The odometer shows 84,000 but it is only a 5 digit unit, true miles are unknown to me. Good floors as well. Thanks for looking and good luck!!
