Vehicle Detail
Bought this diesel Jetta about a year ago. The Jetta (4 door) was a turbo (label on the trunk) but when I got it it has a 1.6 NA. When I first got it home I got it running (replaced the battery cables) but discovered other electrical issues. I have driven this car on the road so know that it runs good, shifts through all the 5 gears and reverse good and stops well. The body of this car is pretty nice but does have a little rust, especially around the windshield and the interior isn't too bad. I have tried to fix the electrical issues by replacing the fuse/relay panel and relays but have not had any luck and have lost the desire to have a diesel vehicle run on vegetable oil. I am more of an air cooled guy with several baywindow buses that need my attention. Here is a list of things that I know it needs in no particular order: Fuel economy on these older VW’s are between 40 and 50 miles per gallon. With the vegetable oil kit installed who knows how long you could go between diesel fill ups. Vegetable oil can be had from many restaurants but you would have to coordinate that with them. The Greasecar kit has not been installed except for the two solenoids mounted in the engine compartment and a couple gauges on the console. These kits new cost $1295. Check out the kit on the web greasecar.com Windshield is cracked and needs a new seal - I have a new seal. A couple of the tires are dry rotted - I have a couple replacement but they are on Ford rims Fix the electrical problems - glow plug relay keeps clicking even after the vehicle is running (I pull the relay out once it is started), headlights don't work, turn signals kind of work (relay clicks also) not sure if brake or reverse lights work, wipers only work on one speed, heater blower doesn't work. There are probably other electrical issues. Wing vent windows need work. Passenger door on driverside has a handle issue. There could be more issues but these are the ones I know about. Mileage on the odometer is around 160,XXX, I don’t know how many miles are on the actual engine. Email with any other questions. I am about 65 miles East of Chicago. I can provide more pictures but the car is now outside so I might need a day or two. Because of the current condition of the lights and tires I would recommend that this vehicle only be driven a short distance. Any other distances I believe it should be put on a trailer. On Jan-10-12 at 15:19:38 PST, seller added the following information: Wanted to add some pictures since the weather outside is pretty nice. The oil spot in the first picture is actually from a different vehicle. A couple things I want to include is that is some of the trim is loose, the passenger side mirror glass is missing and I had the hood open and now it won't stay closed, the latch needs attention.
