Vehicle Detail
This is about a 1958 NSU Maxi 175cc OHC. I bought this bike a while ago with big hopes to restore it but other projects' financial apatites force me to list it. The bike is fairly complete with only the lower chain guard missing as far as big items are concerned. The previous owner mounted the solo seats. The passenger seat looks like the spring is a bit sagged. The bike has been sitting for a very long time and it looks like somebody had the engine out a while ago and started to take it apart as the mounting bolts have their nuts only loosly installed and there are some nuts and bolts missing from the engine. The kick starter kicks through, but there must be a pawl that isn't working as it isn't turning the engine. Although I've never been into the engine, I'm assuming it will require a complete rebuild after sitting for so long. The exhaust system was removed when I purchased the bike and I just have it loosly bolted to the bike as I didn't want to hurt the threads in the head which look pretty good. The bike still has it's American market high bars and most of the controls are still there including the dimmer/horn switch and the choke lever. All of the cables will need replacing. The carb slide moves in the bore. The custom key with retaining wire comes to the high bidder AT NO EXTRA CHARGE. The fuel tank has a few dents but is sound with no rust holes. The fenders have no cracks or big dents and the bike is straight. All of the polished alloy on the wheel hubs and brake plates. I don't have the key for the toolbox/battery box locks but these like everything else for this bike including rims and spokes, all engine internals, exhaust system and just about everything else is available from one of 4 different dealers in Germany. NSU Motzke is my choice. There is a cool '63 Montana plate on the bike. Please feel free to contact me with any questions at (612)-816-7373. High bidder is responsible for shipping cost, but I will help from my end where possible and I can deliver to the Milwaukee metro for $150.00. Payment is to be made in full within 7 days of the auction close. I won't accept bids from bidders with less than 5 feedbacks or less than 97% positive feedback.
