Vehicle Detail

San Francisco, CA 415-205-0716 sales@carplanet.com 1964 Porsche 356C Coupe This rust free 1964 Porsche 356C Coupe spent many years in the dry desert area of Southern California. Original floors, longitudinals and battery box. Original exterior color was Light Ivory (color code 6404). Original Black leather interior. Very strong running 912 engine. Original 741 transmission. Rare original Nardi steering wheel. Four wheel disc brakes. Doors shut with solid factory sound. A fair driver as is or great outlaw restoration candidate. The following is a detailed description of the car, along with over one hundred high resolution photos and three videos. Please email or call us at 415-205-0716, if you have any questions. Body, Paint and Trim Having resided mostly in dry areas of California, since sold new, the upper body and undersside of this 356C shows no rust. The body is also free of front or rear clips. The floors and longitudinals are original. The battery box is also original with evidence of one patch repair. The body has some dents in the hood and roof. Deck lid and door gaps are very good and doors shut with that correct factory feel. The original deck lid is stamped with correct last two digits of the chassis number (59). Both doors are also the originals. No numbers were found stamped on trunk lid, but normally would be stamped on the latch, which has been replaced. All the trim parts are present and appear to be originals. The glass is clear with no obvious chips. There is one wiper scrape in the windshield. Front and rear light lenses show no cracks. Chrome is original and still in fair condition. The rear license plate lights are included, but not presently installed. The original color was Light Ivory (color code 6404). The last repaint to Signal Red is faded with obvious chipped areas as clearly identified in our photos. There are no paint bubbles. Interior Rarely seen these days, the black leather interior is all original. Being the original leather, it is of course showing it's 47 years of age. The most obvious wear is showing on the driver seat, rear panel and headliner. Other than these areas, the interior is in fair original condition with some minor wear. The gauges, switches and knobs on the face of the dash are all present. A rare original wood Nardi wheel is installed and shows excellent patina. Buyer has the option to purchase car with the Nardi wheel replaced with correct black rimmed 356C wheel and will receive a $1000 price reduction. Electricals Headlights (low and high beams), tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, horn and windshield wipers are functional. The starter and generator are functioning fine. All instruments are functional, except for the clock and temp gauge. An extra oil pressure gauge is installed and is functional. The battery is in good condition. Engine and Transmission The engine is an early 1965-67 912, based on the engine type number (616/36) stamped on case. Engine was rebuilt and stored, before the last owner's purchase in the early 90's. The rebuild included installation of big bore pistons. The Weber carburetors were fully disassembled and rebuilt with documentation, just after the last owner's purchase. Prior owner estimated approximately 2,000 miles were accrued on the engine, since his purchase. The engine starts easily, holds a steady idle and accelerates smoothly with very good power. The following engine related servicing was recently completed: adjusted engine timing, filed points, cleaned distributor cap & rotor, new spark plugs installed and tested spark plug wires, cleaned idle jets. Also a recent engine compression test (see photos) resulted in the following strong readings: CYL 1 = 137psi, CYL 2 = 130psi, CYL 3 = 140psi, CYL 4 = 130psi The original 4 speed 741 transmission (dated May, 1964) is installed and shifts smoothly into every gear with no grinding or unusual noises. Shift bushings have just been replaced. Shocks, Wheels, Tires and Brakes All four Boge shocks are in good condition. Steering is light and direct. Wheel alignment is correct and car tracks straight at high speed. 15" x 5.5" painted steel wheels are installed and are straight. Four BF Goodrich Touring Pro radial tires (size 195/60HR15) were installed 2000 miles ago and are in good condition with no cracks or unevenly worn tread. The four wheel disc brakes (unique to the 356C model) are functioning well. The emergency brake has been recently adjusted and holds tight. Extra Parts and Documentation The following extra parts are included: Spare wheel, jack, license lights and front bra. Documenation includes clear California title, original owner's manual and some service records.
