Vehicle Detail

Up for your consideration is a 1975 Triumph TR6 that is begging for another chance to serve a new owner as it did its past! Though the car is in need of restoration, it does run extremely well and by the time this sale ends, it will drive! I have rebuilt the clutch master & slave and am in the process of rebuilding the brake master. I have wheel cylinders on order from Victoria British. Having these things done will make it a whole lot easier to move around, and drivable. The engine is in good condition and carries good oil pressure both at high RPM and at idle. At some point (not many miles ago) the cylinder head was rebuilt. I didn't do this work, but it was performed by a quality reputable shop here in the area. In addition, a Flame Thrower electronic ignition has been installed. As said, this car runs very good! I haven't flushed the fuel tank, but it doesn't look or smell horribly bad, and Im sure the carbs would easily survive a simple clean up. (I used a simple gas can and pump to make it run) As you can see in the photos; the under hood area is very clean and tidy! Everything that's supposed to be there, is there with the exception of the heater control valve. Seldom do you find an unmolested engine compartment! As you will also see; the body has some rust. The left floor pan has 2 good sized holes, and the right is very scaly, but reasonably solid. There is a hole at the right front of the inner sill. Both rockers have holes and are in need of replacement. The fenders could be either repaired, or if one is looking for an easier route, simply replace them. The front valance is solid in the areas where they normally rust, as is the front inner fenders and cowl/ firewall area under the battery, and so is the trunk. The rear valance has some minor rust forming, but no holes or soft spots.(very savable ) The frame is extremely solid with no signs of damage causing rust! All suspension components are in tact, the front upper A arm bushings will need replaced. The front wheel bearings are as they should be. The doors open and close as good as they did back in 1975! They have an excellent fit, and to the best of my knowledge this car has never been wrecked! As you will also see, the left door has the typical hickey as a result of a broken door check. The left door is solid across the lower pinch seam, and the right is also, but does have a small spot starting about 2-3 inches above the bottom. The hood is very straight with no dents, twists or rust. It has a small ding less than the size of a dime as shown in the photo. The rear deck is also straight, but has some rust starting in the usual area at the left rear corner.(a hole smaller than an eraser) The pinch weld is solid and clean. Both front and rear bumpers are in very good condition. There is a small ding on the right side of the rear bumper. The overriders are solid and in beautiful condition! The standard dual tube exhaust is very solid and sounds just like a TR6 should! This is a straight 4 speed non overdrive car. Rear shocks would be left as a builders choice. They aren't new, but appear to be in good condition. When you "bounce" the rear of the car and let loose, it stops right away! The interior....It's the typical results of what happens when the car spent 90% of it's life with the top down and the weather took it's toll! The seat cushion foam is shot as the left seat base cover. The right seat base cover (as shown) is in fairly decent condition. The seat backs feel pretty firm, and the head rests are in above average condition! Both door panels are in very good condition! I don't know the story, but somewhere along the line someone decided to take the dash apart. The wood is completely trash, but all the gauges are present and accounted for. The under dash loom, just like the under hood, is 100% with no signs of melt down or a hack job! The glove box/ cubby, is in very nice condition with no signs or rot, decay or mice. The Craig AM/FM cassette radio that's been there as long as I can remember is still in tact. The center indicator for the dash controls is in excellent condition, and the seat belt retractors look good and are full functional! The Michelin Red line tires have very nice tread and only minor weather checking. The wheels rotate straight & true(by eye) one center cap has a crack, and the other three look good besides discoloring from age. The chrome centers have no pitting or peeling. The brake shoes and pads (drums & rotors) are in very good condition and shouldn't need replacing any time soon. The windshield and door glass are in good condition for their age. They show some light scratches and such, but no chips or gouges. The windows roll up and down freely. All in all, this TR6 has the potential to once again be a very beautiful car! I will give the car yet another going over and add photos that may help describe it. This car has come and gone from my life since the late 70's. I first encountered it when I was working at the local dealership where it's owner had it serviced. After that business closed, it would appear in my driveway upon occasion when it needed some of the usual British tinkering. It was the pride and joy of its owner who vowed she would never sell it!! But, as time took its toll and life does what it does, the car re appeared in my drive one last time, and I became the new owner... Knowing the car as I do and the love and care it's seen, and seeing what little it would take to put it back on the road, I couldn't bring myself to part it out. If it weren't for so many other projects and a lack of space to keep it until that time, I'd happily restore this one myself! I have done my best to describe this car as accurate as possible. I value my feedback and wish to make every sale lending itself to the possibility of a repeat customer. If you would like any additional photos or information that I haven't covered, Please feel free to ask! Remember, the time to ask questions is prior to bidding. The final auction price is the final sale price! Transporting of this car is the buyers responsibility; however, delivery is available for a per mile fee. On Dec-30-11 at 15:41:06 PST, seller added the following information: I've rebuilt the brake & clutch master cylinders, clutch slave cylinder and front calipers. The clutch works fine, the transmission shifts smoothly and has no sign of problems. Very quiet! The brakes,, I'm thinking it will need a vacuum servo. They have been bled thoroughly and they just don't feel right. They stop the car, but I wouldn't consider driving it in traffic as they are! I've added photos of the car while outside in the daylight to give a better perspective. As you will see, the top needs replacing. As stated previously, someone has taken the dash apart. There is a shot of the inside of the car from both sides, and center, showing how the plinth and knobs are all in excellent condition. In the photo from the left, if you're curious what the stray white wire all bunched up is, that is the power wire I used for an electric fuel pump (not included) to test run the car. Being the car has been sitting for an unknown length of time, I didn't want to take a chance of putting gas into the tank and wind up filling the carburetors with any debris from the tank. With the Upper control arms being as they are, it would be a good idea to replace them before doing much driving at all or else it could make short work of some very nice Michelin red line tires. All in all, a bit of tinkering would render a daily driver and lend itself to a solid basis for a full restoration. Thanks again for looking!
