Vehicle Detail

No Reserve! The car must go! 1956 Lincoln Continental Mark II; It was a personal luxury car produced by the Continental Division of the Ford Motor Company in 1956 through 1957. Many aficionados of the automobile consider the Continental Mark II one of the classics of the postwar period. Famous owners included Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, the Shah of Iran, and a cross section of the richest men in America. The car was featured in the 1956 film High Society, starring Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Grace Kelly and Louis Armstrong. Today, approximately half of the original 3,000 cars still exist in varying states of repair. An active owners' club exists The Continental Mark II Owners Club, and thanks to the use of standard Lincoln mechanical components most parts required to keep them going are available. They enjoyed a very good survival rate, much like early Thunderbirds, because people recognized that they were true "special interest" cars from the day of their introduction. VIN C56D2693 13-1F6M-207-6 94065 Miles—unknown original miles The car was recently purchased for a family member who once owned an identical car. The intention was to place him into his “dream car” once again. But, due to tragic and sad circumstances he will not be able to enjoy the car. It has been decided to sell the car. Now is an opportunity for you to own this great car. The car’s original exterior paint color was Deep Red (13), and the interior was deep red leather biscuits and white leather seat bolsters (1F6M); as you can see from the photos the interior was refinished with a beige vinyl seats, door panels, arm rest, and brown carpet. The car has air conditioner, the fan on the evaporator coil (located in the trunk) works but the a/c is not blowing cold; originality to be verified. The car’s gauges work, the clock does not nor does the gas gauge. The car runs strong, however, there are muffler leaks—clearly the entire muffler system needs to be replaced. Some of the window switches do not work. The power seat moves forward and back but not up and down. Holley Four-Barrel Carburetor, Turbo-Drive Three-Speed Automatic Transmission, Power Steering, Independent Front Suspension with Unequal-length A-arms and Coil Springs, Rear Axle with Leaf Springs, Power Brakes, Four-Wheel Hydraulic Drum Brakes, Power Windows, Air Conditioning, Original AM Radio—does not work. RH side on Block--Engine Number ECU 6015A 368 cu. in. V8 “1956-57. Early Lincoln OHV engine” 275 hp, 368 cu. in. V8 Engine Number ECU 6015A. 1956-57. Early Lincoln OHV engine with an efficiency of 9.00 to 1 compression ratio. According to the receipts from previous owners; the motor’s block was rebuilt in 2004 and the heads were rebuilt in 2008—receipts provided. The car shifts and drives good; as mentioned it does need the exhaust fixed and then a tune-up. This is a complete car which could use minor attention to make it a driver, or a perfect candidate for a full restoration. As to the cars “originally,” I can only provide you with the numbers I have found and you will have to verify it. Located on the engine (noted above) and the transmission number located on the LH side of the trans body PMB7006. A/C compressor has a number plate on the RH side 3SK30. I cannot find the differential number. The car’s body and undercarriage are in excellent condition—no rust found, the bumpers show little signs of chrome deterioration, all of the car’s trim work is in place and show little signs of deterioration. The car’s frame is in excellent condition and shows no signs of an accident. The RH side lower chrome trim does have an area of damage. The paint is rated as a “20 footer”, with signs of deterioration seen as you get closer, No “blistering” but you can see in several areas the paint is spider cracking from age. On the RH side fender and door panel there were repairs done, to what extent cannot be determined; the white paint tone is slightly different. A magnet test shows very little signs of any bondo used for the repair. Once again, I cannot find any rust areas on this car, except for the car’s exhaust—mentioned above, from the truck pan to the front floor pans—all appears good. Clear California title in-hand. Any questions email me or call my cousin (six-two-six)-938-0271; he can answer any of your questions. If you want any additional photos, I will email a lot more photos. If you want a photo of any particular item; I will take the photo and email it to you. Inspections are welcomed and encouraged. Due to the size and unexpected storage of the car; the car is located at a cousin’s house near Los Angeles. Email me for the contact information to set-up an appointment to see this great car. Good Luck. I reserve the right to end this auction early—for any reason.
