Vehicle Detail
Well guys, here's my 58 Ford Custom 300 up for sale. I had always told myself and everyone else I would never sale this car but things in life change and now it time for someone else to care for her. I have driven this car everyday for the past 5 yrs back and forth to work and she has never let me down. She has a 223 6 cyl. that was rebuilt around 50,000 miles ago (does not smoke or use any oil), along with the rest of the drivetrain. The brakes, ball joints, and upper control arm bushings were done about 30,000 miles ago. I had a front end alignment done a couple of months ago and the shop told me she would need lower bushings in the near future. This car is very reliable and drives and rides down the road very good with no shakes or surprises. It has been on a few 500 mile one way trips and never failed. I wouldn't think twice about taking off cross country in it but is is not an interstate car being it has 3:89 gears in the 9 in rear in. Car will crank no matter how cold it is and will not run hot in the 100 degree plus Tennessee weather. When the original radiator started leaking a couple of years ago I replaced it with a new 3 flue that was actually made for a 64 Chevy Impala. It fit great and looks like it was made for the car. The original generator has been replaced with a one wire GM alternator for added reliability. As far as I can trace back I am the 3rd owner with the car always being within a 25 mile radius of here. The second owner had the seats recovered in gray vinyl and the headliner replaced. The seats need a good cleaning because as I stated I used this car as my everyday driver. The gas gauge developed a problem back in the summer and takes spells when it does not work (I think it is a loose wire). Body wise as you can see in the pictures it has the typical rust as any Ford of this period in the quarters and rockers. The front floors are solid and the rears have had a small patch welded in on both sides. The trunk is pretty solid as far as I can tell. The good thing about the body it it hasn't been repaired in anyway so you know straight forward from looking at it what you are getting. I replaced the hood early this year with a straight rust free one from California that I purchased here on ebay. The body dent wise is pretty straight with a few small dents here and there that would be typical of any 53 yr old car that has never had anything done to it. I have extra of all chrome on both sides, nice taillight bezels that go on the trunk, new windshield rubber, an original drivers door glass to replace the cracked one, a front bumper that will need rechroming, new outer rocker panels, and other misc. parts that will go with the car. Car is being sold with no reserve, as is where is with no warranty, and comes with a clean Tennessee title, I want cash at time of pickup and car needs to be picked up no later than 7 days after auction closes. Car is too be picked up locally or the buyer if the buyer wants it shipped you have to make all the arrangements. If you want to look at her or want more info just email me you name and number through ebay and I will help anyway I can. If you buy her I feel very confident in telling you it can be driven home no matter what distance with no problems, just don't expect it to be a fast trip. You winning bid is a legal binding contract on the purchase of this car and will be treated that way. So bid what your comfortable and happy with. Thanks for the look and good luck.On Dec-21-11 at 06:26:13 PST, seller added the following information: I had a lot of request for pictures of the undercarriage of this car so I added 7 more. As you can see the inner rockers are solid as is the rest of the underside and frame except for the small amount of rust in the right rear floorboard area.On Dec-21-11 at 06:35:14 PST, seller added the following information: The dark spots in the undercarriage pictures is water, it just rain here a few hours ago and the roads was still wet in places when I drove the car to town to take pictures of the frame.
