Vehicle Detail

1955 Buick Special 2 door Original car with solid body, 90 % restored. Mechanically sound with good running V8 264 engine and smooth shifting 2 speed dynaflow automatic transmision. This car could be started up and driven anywhere Its a great driver. Odometer Reads 32k- There is no rust or rot on any of the outer panels, floorboard or inside the trunk. It looks and runs more like a 5 year old car than a 56 year old antique. Brakes and e-brake work well. The water pump and generator were recently replaced as well as the E brake cable, rear shock links, frontend pitman arm and bracket and front end stablixer rods. The vacuum operated windshield wipers work as well as all gauges in the instrument cluster. fuel, amps, oil pressure, and temperature. Paint: The teal sections about 80 % of the surface area has been repainted, color sanded and buffed. Chrome: Chrome is a combination of original, new reproduction and good replacements from a milder climate. Most of the outer chrome has been replaced and is in good condition. The Hood Ornament , BUICK letters on the front of the hood and gas door guard are new The 3 Side ports and SPECIAL script on the driver side are new. Fuel Tank has been lined and a new sending unit installed. Stainless Steel is in good shape with exception of the right rear quarter with a few dents on three pieces. I have replacements that come with the car. Interior needs a new headliner and windlace, front seat is torn on driver side. Glass has a few sun spots on the windsheld but no cracks on any of the glass. Car is located on Ridge Road in Wethersfield, Connecticut - for more information or to make an appointment to see the car - call me at 860-513-1462 before 1:30 pm and after 4 pm Mechanical - engine normaly starts however when the engine is cold the choke must be 95 pecent closed to start- if the engine has not been started in a few days 2 teaspoons of gasoline down the throat of the carburator then close the choke - engine will start right up- Engine runs great once warmed up and transmission shifts like new- it steers rather easly - does not handel like a new BMW but a big heavy full framed car- Body and Frame- body is very solid - underbody has been undercoated and the only rust I see is near the very front under the radiator - needs to be sanded and painted- Frame is 100 percent solid- with only some surface rust- Exhaust is in good shape with no leaks Brakes - parking brake cable is new and parking brakes work well- may need adjustment- Brakes work well but a little uneven may need adjustment so all wheels are the same- Glass- the windsheld has a few sun spots at the bottom where the saftey plastic has seperated from the glass - side glass has a few small bubles at the top- rear glass is good but the rubber gasket is worn and at the middle bottom 2 $3 clips are missing that hold the stainless steel moulding- Interior- driver side upper seat insert is torn near the upper part near the door- This part has a black cover over the original- The dash is a bit fadded and the headliner and windlace need complete replacement- side panels are good and back bench is good- the rear shelf cardboard should be replaced- all the guages work - the am radio is not connected- and the antena is broken off $500.00 non refundable deposit required within 48 of successful bid (Paypal)and end of auction- balance due within 7 days, bank transfer - Buyer responsible for pick up
