Mercedes-Benz 463 series 3 door Gelaendewagen with RARE factory 5 SPEED! Full DOT and EPA papers. Imported and marketed by Mercedes-Benz Europa. Currently registered and smogged in the State of California. Full documentation, original manuals and full service records from the past 8 years are included. I understand there are only three stick shift model W463 2 door G wagens with full documentation in the USA. Of those, This would be the only one with the sliding rear window option. It is a rare bird and in exceptional condition. This is a 3.0 liter straight six model, NOT G320, G500, G55 or G550. It's model year is 1991 (300GE) which the eBay software will not accept with the correct vehicle ID number I have entered above. This car is rust free. I have added a couple of representative photos of the undercarriage. This 463 series in short wheel base features 2 position sunroof and the exceptionally rare sliding rear windows. The body is straight as an arrow and free of rust. This car has been pampered from day one and looks and drives great. Includes Europa custom winch and narrow diamond plate running boards. Nice 3 door or convertible models that have been properly and legally imported are hard to find. This one is particularly desirable due to the factory 5 speed transmission in a W463 series G. Three electronically controlled differentials. Mercedes' famous 3 liter straight six fuel injected gas engine in superb condition with even compression and loads of torque. The head had never been off the engine until last week. To correct a leak in the head gasket I am having the top end of the engine overhauled with new valve guides installed and the head interface machined. The car will be ready by the close of this auction. There will be no outstanding technical issues. As with all the top notch maintenance work this G, the top end overhaul is being performed by German Motor Car Service in Santa Monica. The work will add another $3,000 to the $35,000 recently invested in this vehicle. Gas mileage is between 14 and 18 MPG. The transmission is an all nee factory manual 5 speed. Fast synchros and a very steady clutch. This truck can climb over anything. Suspension, axles and transfer case have all been serviced in recent years and are in top condition. Selective locking of the necessary differentials will get you out of most any situation. When equipped with an automatic transmission a G-wagen is deprived of much of it's flexibility and effectiveness. This is the real deal. If you love a tight turning radius and excellent visibility then this is the car for you! Mechanically this vehicle is in excellent condition throughout. Just completed a full service that included new brakes all around and A/C rehab. The car steers straight, brakes straight, runs smooth and the A/C blows cold. The factory heater is unbelievable. The factory 16" alloys are substantially more practical than the 18" wheels we have had to deal with on my wife's G500/550 models. These are free of curb rash. They don't burst tires when you try operating your SUV on Los Angeles County roads. Besides, they just look better and there are much better tires available in this rim size. The spare is a matching Benz factory alloy. Spare tire cover is factory steel version, not fiberglass. Interior is leather with exception of the two front factory Recaro seats which I have been looking to reupholster or replace. Jump seats are factory leather. New rear seat belts are included in this sale but not installed. Factory zebrano wood trim is in decent condition. Note that window controls are on the dash console, not in the area of the shifters where they cause problems for other G models. Radio/CD is Mercedes-Benz/Becker and comes with a Mercedes-Benz/Alpine 6 CD changer. Also included in this sale is the controller for the bumper mounted winch. There is a heavy duty cargo mat which looks ugly but has protected the factory carpet in the rear cargo area. This area becomes quite large when both jump seats are folded up out of the way. The car has been repainted only once due to fading and minor body dings. This is the correct original GlasUrit bronze metallic which is a somewhat rare factory color for a G-wagen. This is NOT 'Desert Silver' but a darker shade which the Steyr/Puch factory in Graz, Austria lists as 'Pueblo.' Please email with any questions or to schedule and inspection. If you want to drive a nice Mercedes, it's all about the manual transmission.
