Vehicle Detail
1941 Ford COE Aerodynamic Aviation Fuel Truck. RARE with only 26,386 miles!! This is an aero aviation fuel truck in working condition. The pto and pump work. The fuel register works. CLEAR MONTANA TITLE. ENGINE: 100hp 239 Mercury Flathead V-8. "59Y" block stamp indicates military/industrial quality casting. They are very sought after by the hot rod and salt flat crowd since the higher quality metal and casting can support larger over-bores and higher hp without distortion or cracking. At this point, a buildable block is considered exceptionally rare and a complete low-mile engine in good working order is "unheard of". The heads are stamped 59AB. Engine is in excellent and clean condition. I hooked up a battery and fresh gas. It fired right up and ran smooth and strong on all cylinders. No unusual noises or big cloud of smoke. Really awesome motor in full factory dress. Judging from how it fired up, I would say the engine is quite sound. I can link a video of it running if you wish. BODY: The fuel body has tapered aero fenders and fittings for full aero wheel skirts, not your average tank on wheels! There are two tanks, 800 gallon and 400 gallon. Large toolboxes are in each side, one with a fire extinguisher mount. No rust in the toolboxes or tank. some damage to upper right rear aero fender. Metal is there, just poked in. See pictures. CAB:Overall very nice original condition cab. No rust in footwells, fenders, floorboards, etc. A few tiny pinholes rust in beltline, but very, very minimal. Most would consider this a "rust-free" body. Guages and knobs in good condition, have not tested speedometer. Key is missing. Drivers seat is complete but could use seat cover or reupholster. Passenger seat has back cushion, but is missing seat bottom cushion. Probably taken out to access battery. would be easy to replicate. Both windshields have complete hardware and open and close properly. Windows roll up and down but passenger glass is cracked. Left front fender is dented. See pictures. HISTORY:This would have been state of the art aircraft fueling during WWII. It was later used by Frontier Airlines and then "Collins Flight Service who apparently painted the lower half grey (originally the truck was likely all red with a white stripe). This vehicle had the benefit of being owned and operated by aircraft personnel, which seemed to take very good care of it. The truck was last used in mid 80's to haul fuel to a remote helicopter logging operation and was retired in working condition with the tanks nice and dry. Please let me know if you would like further details, pics, or video. Purchaser is responsible for shipping. 10% deposit due on Paypal within 48 hrs. Please note, the doghouse (engine cover) is all there, I just removed for pictures.
