Up for sale is a 1989 Mercedes 300GD turbo, 460 series.The 460 series was in production from 1979-1989.This is the last year of the reliable 460 production run. This 300GD has the following options from new : 5-speed Getrag manual gearbox, diff. locks front and rear axel, 5-speed high and low 4X4 transfer box,2 auxillary fuel tanks in L and R rear fenders,stow compartement under both front seats, heated front seats, front head light washers, towpin front bumper,2 foglights front, 1 foglight rear,headlamp guards, 4 16" alloy wheels,lockable fuel cap, 1 key works ignition, driver door and fuel cap,rear 2-speed wiper, rear washer, tow hitch rear, fender extenders,map reading light mounted on right side of dash, Becker radio cassette, RPM meter, heated rear window, rubber floormats front and back. This car was born as a 5 cylinder 300GD.We gave it the following upgrades:5 cylinder turbo diesel engine out of a 1985 W123 car.Last year for the production of this wonderful 617A 5 cylinder turbo diesel engine, engine was completely rebuild, Mercedes liftkit, 4 new 4" higher heavy duty springs, 4 new Bilstein shocks, vents in both front fenders, 4 mm. German alloy diamond plate on both front fenders and hood, hood is now walkable for acces to potential roof rack, Mercedes snorkel mounted on right side, also functions as intercooler, white painted roof for sunlight reflection, Mercedes G outside sunvisor, large W126 engine oil cooler, turbo wiper blades, front skid plate and alloy rims powder coated in matte black, new Good-Year 265-85-16 off-road tires, brake pads front, new exhaust system, new clutch disk, pressure plate and throw-out bearing, new turn signal lights top of front fenders, new rear lenses, heavy-duty steering damper. The 617A engine was rebuild with the following new Mercedes parts: Mahle pistons standard size, sleeves, main- and rod bearings, timing chain, oilpump chain, timing chain guides, timing chain tensioner, oilpump, oilpump chainrail, vacuum pump (updated version), intake valves, exhaust valves, intake- and exhaust valve guides, valve stem seals, injectors, glowplugs, headbolts, connecting rod bolts, cranck bolts, seals and gaskets, block heater. Invoices will go with the car. Engine rebuild was performed by Arthur’s Mercedes-Benz Service, he is a Mercedes-Benz authorized engine rebuilder.Engine has a 3 year or 30,000 mile warranty from Arthur’s.The pistons were ceramic coated to prevent heat transfer to the bottom of the engine, rod and main bearings were coated with a material that attracts oil, less friction on the cranckshaft with a much longer life.These procedures were done by: Polymer Dynamics Inc. out of Houston. On Nov-30-11 at 19:03:54 PST, seller added the following information: Additional technical information: Arthur set this engine at European timing.Intake and exhaust manifolds were ported and ceremic coated by Polymer Dynamics,Inc. Intake manifold was powder coated on the outside in silver.Because of the ceremic coatings the heat of the combustion gets deflected straight into the turbo, which makes it go mad! The turbo starts spooling up at 1200rpm.Both turbo and snorkel have a nice whine to them. The engine has only a few hundred miles on it, I am easy with the gas pedal however today I drove it at cruising speed 80mph and 3200rpm. It feels that this truck would aproach 100mph.It also has for sure more than the standard 125 hp.The cold air supply thru the snorkel helps matters as well.
