This vehicle is in incredible condition and very well cared for with original low 64,672 miles! One of the last years of the Porsche 930 type 3.2L Carrera Series (first time Porsche used Carrera nomenclature since 1975) this Porsche 911 Carrera 2 is for a true enthusiast. A new higher displacement motor, a 3.2 liter horizontally opposed flat 6 cylinder was utilized. For the 1987 and 1988 models only, Porsche used a new five speed gearbox manufactured from Getrad AG (model number G50). A heavier gearbox than previous models also featured a hydraulically operated clutch. With the newly designed Carrera engine, North American delivered cars had 251 hp (@5900 rpm) with a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 5.2 seconds; top speed calculated at 165 mph. Optional "Whale-Tail" rear spoilers were installed to help vent more air to the engine and help create more downforce at the rear of the vehicle thus making it more stable. For the 1987 model year, Porsche manufactured only 3,497 cabriolet units with 1,353 marked for US importation. This 1-owner Porsche was sold new in February 1987 from Champion Porsche in Palm Beach, FL. The car was bought/sold through several classic car auctions throughout 2011 until being offered presently. The car is finished in its original color of Grand Prix White with factory navy canvass soft top. This model features factory Porsche Sport Seating which was restored in 2006 with factory Porsche ivory leather ($3515). The car was further restored in January of 2011 with factory Porsche original Silverknit flush carpeting for the entire cabin space ($2750).
