1951 Chevrolet Rat Rod Ok, after much contemplation and urging from the wife, I am offering my 1951 Chevy Styleline Deluxe for sale. This is a real Rat Rod if the term ever applied to anything. I purchased this car a few years ago and have had a wonderful time with her, but I have just purchased a new project and need to gain some capital. This is a project car, but is far further along than just a roller. This car features the stock drive train, with the insanely reliable 216 stovebolt engine and a 3 speed manual transmission. Car is a driver….I have been driving it recently back and forth to work, 20 miles a day, to save on gas (the I6 sips gas at something like 22mpg). I had a glass pack welded in last year so I could actually hear the car at idle. Since I have owned the car I have only fiddled with it a bit, painting some of the trim, getting her pinstriped, & re-upholstering the door panels. I had to replace the U joint and transmission this spring. I also added an electronic ignition system and coil. The Styleline Deluxe was the base of the Basic models Chevy offered that year. Car is as-is, but I am not trying to rip you off. The Car registers very low milage 11,000+ miles. I purchased the car in 2008 from a fella on Harrison Ferry Mountian, near McMinnville TN, with 7000+ miles on the Odometer. He told me that he had owned the car for nearly 20 years and that he had barely put a few hundred miles on the car. He stated that he believed that the car had 7000+ ORIGNAL miles on it as I was buying it, but he, of course would offer no guarantee to that. The story he told me was that this car was purchased new for a lady that lived “On the Mountain” and that when her husband brought it home she didn’t like it and told him to drive it. Well, this guy preferred his truck, so he parked the car out back and let it sit. The person I purchased the car from stated that he felt all the body rust was from rain and time. I also cannot guarantee that the car is this low of mileage….but it really doesn’t show much wear. You judge. As I said above, this was to be a project. I have several parts available for sale that would complement the car: SBC 350 Block and heads, TH 350 Tranny, Stovebolt 350 to 51 motor mounts, 1990’s Buick Roadmaster Posi Track Rear end, etc… The Good: Engine purrs like a kitten….Very, very, very low miles for a car this age. Body is in pretty good shape with only a few small areas that need patching (patch panels included) New Tranny, well new to the car, put in this spring. Electronic Ignition system Clock works (but must be wound every day) Tires are great Brakes are great Extra Parts are included (patch panels, the original door panels, all trim, etc.) Car is kooler than you as it has had more interactions with Hot Models than most Rock Stars The Bad: The Electrical System needs rewired. No Heat, no AC (but both vent windows work and the windows roll down) Bad Patch work on the floor boards No Windshield wipers (although the old arms are included and the wiper hookup still works, just no vacuum lines) Not Included as seen in the pictures: Drag Plate Tennessee License Plate Voodoo Front tag Girl… you will have to supply your own Once Again, I am not in a rush to sell this car. She aint eating much! I will consider trading for a nice chopped and bobbed HD, Triumph, BSA or other Kustom motorcycle.
