This has been my personal project for the past 4 years. I was a Volkswagen Service Manager when the first VW Things were delivered back in 1973. I contracted the paint work to a body shop and it is painted with a base coat clear coat orange. All of the mechanical work I preformed myself. A list of most of the work and materials performed during the rebuild is: All tie rods Ball joints Steering damper Master cylinder Wheel cylinders Brake shoes Shifter New piston and cylinders on engine 1 new cylinder head Replaced crankshaft seal New intake and carburetor (Progressive 2 barrel) Billet CD distributor Exhaust Turn Signal Switch New aluminum polished wheels New tires New front turn signal assemblies New rear light assemblies New windshield glass New rear view mirrors New front bumper New top header bow New top New CV joints New starterNew shocks Floor plan repacement panel at battery storage area. The balance of the floor pan is in good condition Replace front seats with seats from a new Ford Truck for comfort I have driven the VW Thing less than 500 miles since completion. Garage kept.
