1957 Austin Healey 100-6 BN4 Roadster!!!! The new Austin-Healey went into production in 1953 and was immediately popular in the U.S. These cars were well-styled, inexpensive, rugged and above all easy to drive, for both the sports car enthusiast who fancied some light competition or just for tooling down to the shops. The early four-cylinder cars were superseded by a six-cylinder model in 1957, appropriately named the 100/Six, and these stayed in production until 1959. These were more powerful and faster, and soon gave rise to the legend of the Big Healey. The Austin-Healey 100-6 Roadster was powered by a 2.6-liter Austin engine with 102 horsepower. The car had new, longer body, which allowed two children's seats to be fitted in the rear of the cockpit. Donald Healey drove a prototype version of this car over 200 mph at Bonneville Salt Flats in August of 1956. The 100-6 was the first Austin- Healey to have a six-cylinder overhead cam engine with two SU side draft carburetors, and a four-speed transmission with electric overdrive. The 100-6 is all part of the hairy chested big brute Healey saga, and it is exactly what a classic British roadster is supposed to be: A simple sports car with great performance, beautiful styling, and a fantastic history to back it all up. It may very well be the best value among the big Healey's. Up for auction is legendary 1957 Austin Healey 100-6 BN4.
