Vehicle Detail
I have up for bid a 1981 Honda CM400E with 22,999 miles. I will tell you right up front that the bike needs the carbs cleaned out. I have rigged the choke to open about a 1/2 inch(see pic) with a piece of clear vacuum line and the bike runs great that way. I have been taking it for short trips around my house because I have added sea foam to the gas. The bike runs better every time I take it out for a little spin. I bought the bike for my wife but she wants to remain a non-rider for now! The bike looks like it only has around 9000 miles on it instead of 22,999,it is in great cond, other than some cosmetic issues with the tank and sidecovers. I will tell you all the issues with this bike(first of all the tank is super clean inside(see pic) but the paint is chipped and scratched with some clear peeling away(see pic)also it has a tiny little ding right in front of the seat(you really have to look hard to see it). The rt side cover has a broken tab so the prior owner secured it with a bolt(see pic) The right side exhaust has a little scuff on the very end of the tailpipe(see pic) and the left side exhaust has a little nick in it at the end of tailpipe(see pic) the decals on the sidecovers are weathered. I have given the best desciption I can of the flaws, now let me tell you that the bike is really in nice cond. compared to most I have seen! The seat is like new and all the chrome is near perfect. the exhaust is not rusty and is very quiet. The lights all work and all the mechanicals are great(in fact I just installed a brand new sealed battery in the bike!) the tires are not dry rotted and have very decent tread on them and the chrome rims are in excellent original condition, You can tell this bike was babied for sure. I believe that once you get the carbs cleaned you will have yourself a very nice nimble easy to handle motorcycle that anyone could learn to ride on or use as a daily commuter. I have set the reserve at a very reasonable price and someone is going to get a very nice bike when this auction is finished. I have a great connection for shipping anywhere door to door, and i will make myself available to help with the loading. This is my e-mail if you have any ques. or concerns dadawalters@comcast.net. I also have a new shop manual for this motorcycle. Thanks Dave
