Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my daily driver 2000 Saab 9-5 Sedan. This is a great car and has been used as my daily driver and the family long trip vehicle for the last five years. I would not be selling this car except that I need a wagon to haul our new dog. I am going to buy another 9-5 but a wagon instead. This car has had regular maintenance and oil changes, as well as some repair work. Repair historyIn 2007, I had a rebuilt turbo put on, as well as a couple of the turbo sensors. In 2008, I bought the new wheels and the tires. All of the wheels have some curb rash and the tires have between 5/32 and 6/32 tread remaining. In 2009, I replaced the flex pipe in the exhaust as it had started to come apart, and installed new spark plugs. In 2010, I put on a new transmission mount, and installed EBC green front and rear brakes. This year, I installed a new water pump, new drive belt, and replaced both idler pulleys. The only current mechanical issue is that it will occasionally put out a puff of smoke on cold start up. It has done this on and off since I got it, for the last 50K miles. It does not need any oil added between changes so its not burning it all the time. It is common for these engines to have sludge buildup in them, I've been told that could be whats causing it. ExteriorThe exterior of this car is not the greatest, maybe a 6/10. There are lots of parking lot dings and scratches on the bumpers. The fog lights are missing on the front bumper (missing when I bought it), and there is a small crack in the right corner of the front bumper. There was a small rust spot on the right rear quarter panel that I cleaned and painted with POR15 to stop the rust. There is a small dent in the very bottom of the drivers front door. The paint is shiny as you can see in the pictures, but there are a number of imperfections...looks great from 5ft away! InteriorThe inside of the car is much better. It has the cloth interior vs most of them which have leather. I find that the seats are very comfy for long drives. Both front seats are power adjustable which works great. The front seats have heaters but they have never worked. The rear seat also has a heater and that does work. The rest of the interior is in great condition; no damage to the dashboard or door panels. The heat and air conditioning work great, occasionally a digit on the climate control goes out which is common for these cars. The trip computer part of the dash (above the radio) was replaced shortly before I purchased it. Both the CD and tape player work excellent on the stereo, all speakers work. At this time, the switch for the hazard flasher is broken, but I have a new one on order that will be put in before the new owner takes delivery. CommentsOverall, this is a great car. I would not be getting rid of it except that I can't drive my 14mpg truck on long trips with the dog. So I need to buy a wagon to haul the dog with. The Saab gets 25-26 mpg driving to work in mixed driving, 32-33 mpg on highway trips. Its not a perfect car, but I'm not looking for top dollar for it either. I have no question about driving this car any distance. It has been on countless long trips and is very comfortable for me and my wife to drive.
