1971 Mercedes Benz 300 SEL 3.5 V8 NO RESERVE AUCTION Nice car to restore! Air Conditioned 40+ photos below of this Silver/Red Leather MBZ These were amazing cars back in the 70's. Many stories circulated about how these powerhouse, air suspension cars cruised the German Autobahn for hours at a time at 120MPH without effort. These were one notch under the bigger 6 litre engine 300SEL which came with even more options and of course a higher price tag. As amazing as they were back then, they still turn heads today. Many of the decent restorable examples have found their way back to Europe in recent years due to the Euro being strong against the dollar. Here's your chance to get in on the ground level of an appreciating classic in this NO RESERVE AUCTION. Why buy this 300SEL? This is a solid car in general. Of course, it has the minor rust problems most have around the wheel openings (see photos). The seats look to be the original red leather which need redone hence the blanks. The car starts right up with no effort and holds a good smooth idle. The motor runs cool and it doesn't leave evidence of leaks after sitting for a day. The wood trim in is decent shape however the piece on the front passenger door is missing. This would be the prefect candidate for a complete restoration.
