Vehicle Detail

Very rare, not butchered, completely stock, near rust-free, original, special order, FACTORY (this is important!) converted 1959 Chevrolet Apache 3100 half-ton shortbed NAPCO 4x4 pickup truck. This rare beauty is totally stock and original and is complete minus the engine. Factory converted NAPCO 4x4 half-ton pickup trucks (2nd Generation, i.e., 1955-1959) could only be ordered with the 235CID Thrift Master Inline Six. This engine was Chevrolet's standard six from 1954-1962. Engines and parts remain in plentiful supply to this day. Heck, this engine even found it's way into first generation Corvettes. I encourage you to look closely at the engine compartment; the stock motor mounts remain in place to either bolt this engine in or upgrade to a Small Block Chevy V-8 from 265-400CID (also a bolt-in swap... but then it's no longer stock and original). It also comes with the standard Chevy 4 speed running through the divorced NAPCO upgraded Dana/Spicer transfer case. This entire conversion was done at the FACTORY as a result of a special order through a Chevrolet dealer. This is a key point; many NAPCO conversions were done in the field or post-purchase by a mechanic or dealer. You can clearly tell by looking at how the transfer case attachment plates are secured to the frame cross-member and how the cross-member itself is attached to the frame. Factory conversions all use the heavy-duty frame rivets that are used to attach all cross-members; all other conversions only use bolts. Look at the undercarriage shots... all factory rivets. The body is very solid and complete. The only rust is typical cab-corner stuff and it is minor (see pics). Floor boards and everything else are rock-solid. The interior has a cut where the radio was located and some bent sheet metal in the center below the firewall. However, there are no signs of cutting of metal anywhere on the firewall, just bent metal that can be straightened. Other than the seat, the interior is complete. The headliner is still in place as is the AM radio speaker and the dome light. All glass is good except for the side windows, but they are flat and still in one piece for patterns. Like I said, other than the engine, it's all there. This rare find and I are both located in the sunny and dry desert community of St. George, UT (about 100 miles north of Las Vegas). My name is Chris and I would be happy to answer your questions. I also have almost 80 additional pictures that I'd be happy to send you.
