Vehicle Detail

Extremely low miles 2001 Honda Civic LX 4 door that has been in one family its whole life. It runs great with cold a/c, but it does have some cosmetic defects and the airbag light is showing. If you are looking for an extremely low miles reliable car and don’t care about a few stains and dings, this is the car for you. If you want a showroom Civic with flawless paint and interior, then this car is probably not for you. Below is a detailed description. The good:My wife's grandmother purchased this car new in late 2000. She drove it for two years and then gave it to my wife in 2003 as grandma was getting to old to drive. My wife was in college then and needed a car. She drove it around campus and home on the holidays when she was in school in East Tennessee. She graduated in 2006, moved to Austin and got an apartment near her new job. For the last 5 years she used it to commute the couple of miles each way to work and to take an occasional trip home to Memphis (although usually she flies). So, this car really hasn't been driven much. At 82K miles it is probably one of the lowest mileage 01' vehicles you will see. It runs and drives great and the air blows cold. The front brake pads were changed about 500 miles ago. The tires are about 18 months old, but look brand new and have plenty of tread as they only have about 2,000 miles on them. The battery is just shy of two years old. Also, aside from the dings mentioned below the car has never been wrecked. It has a current Texas state annual safety inspection sticker which expires in March of 2012 and current Texas registration. Basically, it runs and drives great. The reason we are selling as she got a new car shortly after our wedding a few months ago. (Truth be told, I felt guilty driving a BMW convertible while she still had the same car she had in college!) The Bad:The Interior: This car is far from cosmetically perfect. Although my wife drives like an old lady, she had this car all through college. Often times the car was loaded with other college kids and associated sodas, food etc.. There are a few stains in the interior which I tried to show in the photos. If these bother you (they didn't bother her) you could probably get them out with some scrubbing and stain remover. About one inch of the drivers seat stitching has come lose in a place. This is difficult to see, but is shown in the image of the driver's seat on the right hand vertical stitch a little below the center horizontal stitch. The headliner is dropping a bit in the back around the rear window. I tacked it up to where it is not noticeable. Also, the headliner on the driver's side sun visor has been removed (it is pictured). The Exterior: There are several dings on the outside of the car. My across the street neighbor backed into right side of the rear bumper about a year ago. I popped out the dent on the bumper (it is rubber and popped back out easily) but the impact left it slightly misaligned and the paint slightly flexed on the right side. The insurance estimate was $380 including paint and installation for a new bumper if you decided to repair it. She just kept the cash from the neighbor’s insurance and never got it fixed as it didn’t really bother her. There is also a slight ding on the right front of the hood and on the right side of the front bumper. These are also shown in the pictures. These are from having it parallel parked on the street in downtown Austin and other people tapping it as they were parking or leaving. There may be a few other small nicks and scratches that I failed to notice, but I've listed what was visible to me. Basically this car is a daily driver, not a show car. Mechanical: The car runs and drives great. But, the SRS (airbag) light is showing. I'm not sure if this is a fuse or something more serious. It didn't stop it from passing the state inspection so she never had it looked into. This is the only known mechanical issue with the car. The light is shown in one of the pictures. I will be happy to photograph/ rephotograph any area of the car and send you the pictures if you like. If you would like to see the car in person before bidding it is located in Central Austin and I will be happy to schedule a time to show it to you. Further, I will be willing to drive it to a mechanic of your choice located in central Austin for an inspection at your cost. A $500 deposit is due within 3 days of the end of the auction with full payment due 7 days. The $500 payment can be made via paypal, but the remainder must be a money order, casher’s check or cash. I will not take a personal check. Although I will be more than happy to facilitate an inspection of the car before the auction ends, the car is being sold as is with no warranties expressed or implied. Feel free to contact me with any questions. Happy bidding!
