Vehicle Detail
THIS WILL NOT BE RELISTED THIS IS IT, IT DOESNT SELL IM REBUILDING IT, JUST LEFT THE WIFE, IM REBUILDING IT TO BE BLUNT 1966 LeMans VIN 237176K129352 Plate Under hood reads: General Motors corp. 04B 4293, ST 66 23717 KAN 6743, TR 219-B P-P I bought this in 2008 to make a project out of it and never found the time. It needs someone who can take the time and rebuild this back to stock, or convert easily to GTO. It has one of a few body styles from the 60’s that all collectors love. You’ll get back what you put into it. The interior was nasty, originally blue, which was all removed including carpet and door panels. I purchased a 66 lemans black back seat in great shape, and black carpet set. My intention was to convert to all black interior. The bucket seats are blue, and the passenger side bucket back was missing when I bought it, I found an original back (blue) that matches it. It had an after market shifter that was in bad shape, which I removed and purchased the original shifter and console (+cable) to go between the seats. I also purchased the original steering wheel , dash pad (black) and the grab bar for the glove box (Lemans), extra tail lights, lemans emblems, inside the hood pad, some new valve covers and air cleaner cover for a 400 cu inch including a K & N air filter to go with it. Some nice 400 emblems for the fender, etc. This reminds me of my 66 GTO I had in high school, it also had a 400 cu inch instead of the 389 which originally came with it. I don’t know the condition of the engine, its starts right up and I had no issues getting it home. Transmission feels smooth (auto), the old owner said he had the axles replaced and bearings, with some supporting paperwork. He also said it was almost restored and its not even close. I had window installers remove the front and back windows to restore the dash areas, the back dash had leakage of rain that got behind the window trim and the dash has some rust. Which ran into the trunk and someone has tried to repair trunk but back dash needs sanded down and repainted. Front dash is in good shape. I cleaned up those Appliance rims real good and installed new tires so I could drive it to shops for further repairs. I also purchased the stock AM radio for the dash. If I had the time my plans were to finish interior in black (panels weren’t purchased yet), replace the dash inlay (didn’t purchase yet) to fit original stock AM radio with stock steering wheel and original shifter. Paint dash black. Take the two bucket seats and have them redone in black. New black headliner and the interior would be done. The body looks clean but I’m sure it’s been repaired many times. I would have put a high quality paint job on it in a black/purple color (like the GTO in vin diesels XXX), the paint job now is faded. I would have re-chromed or replaced the bumpers, maybe upgrade the grill to the chrome mesh GTO type with lemans emblems, then go through the entire drive train, a lot for most people but I’m looking for the guy who is a do’er and can restore this guy. It also comes with the 66 Lemans shop manuals on CD. I keep this in my sons garage who lives near me, so I would have to schedule with him to have someone look at it. No seats in it, but can start up. The shifter isn’t in so can’t drive it, but I drove it prior with no issue. You would have to tow away or bolt seat down and finish shifter install. I have the pink slip and own the car, it is not a salvage car. Looked the Identification plate up and found the following: Year is 66, Pontiac division, Lemans, Made in Kansas city MO., Hardtop, interior and exterior was Barrier blue
