Vehicle Detail

THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION! 1997 Chevrolet Suburban LT Clean, Non-Smoker Owner Clean, Accident-Free Carfax. Original Paint that is in Amazing Condition. Strong 5.7L Vortec 4X4 It sits just a little higher than other Suburbans--gets many compliments on how nice it is. Cold Front and Rear Air Conditioning Tow Package 4 Brand New Michelin LTX M/S (2) Tires Good Brakes Goes Straight, Stops Straight Drives Very Nice on the Freeway Everything Works The Exterior of this Suburban is in remarkable condition. The driver's seat is torn, but the rest of the leather throughout the interior is in very good condition. Great Factory Sound System with CD There are a few known problems: #1: The transmission will at times shift hard from 1st to 2nd gear. The 2nd to 3rd shift is not as pronounced, but it does happen. 3rd to 4th gear is never a problem. All 4 gears are fine. It's the shift point between 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd that can be a problem. The code is P 1870. It drives fine the majority of the time. I think it may be a torque converter issue. #2: The engine thermostat may need to be replaced. The guage works, but the thermostat takes a few minutes to regulate the temperature when starting out in the morning. After a few minutes, it's fine, including freeway driving with the A/C system running. #3: The rear end needs to be replaced. It drives, but it makes a lot of noise. #4: The windshield wipers work, but the motor should be replaced; they operate very slowly. Note: I had the Suburban listed last week, but I removed the listing to repair a problem with the A/C switch and Anti-lock brake light. The problem was in the ignition switch and is now repaired with a new ignition switch. The A/C works great and the Anti-lock brake light is no longer illuminated. ________ This is one of the sharpest looking Suburbans of this body style I have seen. It needs some TLC, but it is worth repairing. The wheels and tires alone are worth $1,000. A great vehicle worth repairing. You are welcome to have a mechanic local to the Canton, GA area inspect it prior to purchase. This Suburban would make a great vehicle if you're involved in the Boy Scout program for trips, etc. or for towing the boat to the lake, 4wdriving in the mountains, etc. and yet it's also nice enough to take downtown on Saturday night. Call with any questions Monday-Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A great vehicle worth repairing, or drive it as it is. Buyer is responsible for Sales Tax where the vehicle will be registered, in addition to the sales price. I do not charge any dealer or doc fees. Cars and Trucksmart Auto Sales, LLC 770 345-2500 On Oct-12-11 at 19:49:08 PDT, seller added the following information: October 12, 2011 10:45 p.m. Hi Folks. An update: No service engine or other warning lights are illuminated. There are no codes in the computer since making the ignition switch repair. The mechanic checked the codes after repairing the ignition switch. Before making the ignition switch repair (ignition switch repair was performed due to shorting conditions associated with the ignition switch which, amazingly enough, resulted in sporadic operability of the A/C switch and the anti-lock brake light), there was a code for the transmission problem as mentioned above (P 1870). That code is no longer there. It is possible that the code was a result of the shorting conditions, but I cannot be certain of it. Because the rear end is so loud, I haven't driven it far enough after the ignition switch was repaired to know if the transmission issue mentioned above is in fact still there or is a result of the code perhaps being thrown by the shorting. The transmission for the most part shifts fine through all gears, and was just fine through the couple of miles I drove it after the ignition switch repair. What I'm saying is there is a chance the transmission issue was of an electrical/code nature due to the shorts. Of course, there is also the chance the transmission issue is strictly mechanical in nature. What is known is that whereas the code was in the computer prior to the ignition switch repair, it is now absent after the repair (and yes, we have accounted for the disconnect of the battery). A longer drive cycle may hold the answer, but the rear end is so loud that I didn't want to cause further damage to discover that answer. Apologies for the lengthy update. I want to be honest about everything I am aware of with the Suburban. Unfortunately, the seller from whom I purchased it did not offer me a similar level of honesty. I purchased the Suburban intending to have it as my personal vehicle because it is somewhat unique and quite nice (we have 4 young children, I'm involved in Scouting, and it would have served as an occasional tow vehicle), but the repairs that showed up just days after I purchased it changed my mind for me. I will update more if I gain more information. On Oct-14-11 at 18:37:37 PDT, seller added the following information: ***IMPORTANT***Update: October 14, 2011 9:35 p.m. Ok folks, The rear-end is now INOPERABLE. THE SUBURBAN CANNOT BE DRIVEN. The Suburban has been parked at the mechanic's shop. They moved it today to make room for other vehicles, and the rear end simply gave up the ghost. This obviously changes the listing, so I may once again need to cancel the auction and start over. If you have already bid, you are officially released from any obligation to purchase the vehicle at your bid price. Any bids from this time forward (9:35 p.m. est) would in my judgement be binding as this information would be available for review prior to bidding. Again, though I hate to do it, I may cancel this auction and re-list to make things more simple. To give any interested bidders an opportunity to bid on this auction, I will leave the listing in place until 10:00 a.m. est. 10/15/2011. If no further bids have been placed by 10:00 a.m. est on 10/15/2011, I will cancel all bids, cancel the listing, and re-list. Apologies for the confusion. I just want to be informative and honest. Feel free to call with questions on Saturday morning beginning at 8:00 a.m.
