Vehicle Detail
This little car is a fine example of this vintage. I bought the car about 5 years ago from my father-in-law who had kept it in his garage for the previous 5 years. CONDITION: I will start with the bad and move on to the good... On the down-side, the headliner was removed. Also, there is a small dent (shown in photos) in the rear left corner (about the size of a dime) from a bike falling into it. It is not the original paint, but an excellent re-spray job. There are some very minor rock chips that would be easy to have touched up. The front driver's fender looks to have had some bondo work in the past and has very minor bubbles coming up - can only be seen from about a foot away. The interior is fantastic. The upholstery is virtually perfect with no tears. The driver's seat release doesn't work - the internal metal cable broke. I'm sure it wouldn't be impossible to fix, but I haven't done it simply because it doesn't really matter to me, and I don't want to mess it up. And lastly, the front GTI emblem "T" is missing a serrif from some punk trying to steal it. That is the "BAD". On to the "GOOD". The car scoots. Here are some of the upgrades I have done since I procured it: KW coil-overs all around. Front upper and lower stress bars. ( I have a front Neuspeed sway bar that I will include if you want to put it on, but I don't like running the sway on front) Larger Scirocco front brakes with drilled and vented rotors. Rear Scirocco disk brakes cross drilled rotors. Stainless brake lines all around. Brand new Master Cylinder when I put upgraded the brakes Every bushing (except for the rear engine mount) is urethane. 15" OZ Ultraleggera Wheels (Anthracite) with Yokahama Advan Neova tires (205-50) Virtually new with 95% tread I am also including the original 14" snowflakes with the 195-45 Toyo tires (50% tread) ENGINGE: Techtonics race head with hydraulic lifters. The valves are giant, and I mated up a MK2 throttle body (port matched to the intake manifold). On the bottom side, I added a windage tray to prevent oil foaming. Pace Setter ceramic coated 4 into 1 exhaust manifold. Hollowed out cat lets it breathe very nicely! B&M oil cooler to add more oil and keep it cool. It's nicely mounted for great airflow and hooked up with braided lines and AN fittings. The transmission is built with race gears and a .89/1 r&p gear. The gear ratios are about 7% above stock which is nice with the extra power, and 5th is up around 10%. 1st and Reverse are pinned to prevent accidentally shifting into them and destroying the engine. This transmission is has around 3k miles and a Peloquin LSD. I have a second tranny I am throwing in which is a super high geared tranny if you want to drive the car for the mileage side of things. No LSD though. The shifting linkage is USA Rally spec. All joints are steel heim joints and front back throw has a 10lb weighted section. All push rods are turnbuckle style with jamb nuts for precise adjustment. I replaced both drive shafts and CV joints 4k mi ago when I did all the new brakes. Alternator is new this spring. Optima RED top battery All plastic is in wonderful shape - bumpers and wheel arches. Both vent windows are perfect. DASH IS PERFECT!!! I also am including a power steering pump and rack with all lines. I intended to put this on, but lost momentum. Should be a great touch!
