Vehicle Detail
This bike is a 1981 Suzuki GS650GL, it has only 20,200 original miles and is a drive shaft model. The carbs have been rebuilt and synchronized 6 months ago which cost $350.00. I had to buy 1 carb because the jet pilot tube was cracked. What the bike needs : I sold the fairing, bags and trunk, so this will need a headlight bucket w/headlight, the left side rear foot peg is cracked and needs to be replaced. The gas tank has a very small dent on the left hand side from me dropping a *(^%$*& pepsi while sitting on it. The seat is nice for it's age, but does have a small wear mark on bottom, otherwise in good shape. Just noticed oil coming from the cylinder head cover, called a few shops and was told that on a bike of this age that tightening the bolts down would most likely stop the oil, but myself? I would spend the $25.00 for a gasket and take the 16 bolts out and replace it. The right side exhaust baffle cover has a small hole on the bottom where a rivet has wore through (can't see it), so a small braze job would do the trick, beats paying the $400.00 for a discontinued part that's tough to find ............they shine really nice. What the bike has: Had the carbs done as stated above, bought the best Motorcycle oil available and this stuff is not cheap, $9.50 a quart, but it last for 7,000 miles and it only has been rode 200 miles since I changed it, replaced the petcock filter this year, changed the brakes front and back, new spark plugs, gas tank is super clean inside, most you see on ebay are all rusted, tires still have some good meat on them. The engine is fairly clean, but needs someone who wants to take the time to buff out the side covers (rotor, crankcase. ect.) to make this bike pop ( never liked it when they clear coat aluminum), had the stator and rotor replaced. Replaced the rectifier and fuse box................this thing had issues when I got it. The battery is 9 months old. Most gs bikes I have seen for sale are missing the engine side covers, this not only has them both (not cracked) but they match the metal flake paint job of the gas tank which is rare to find. The gears shift nicely and smooth, Has a clear title. Any questions please ask. This is a PICK UP ONLY, AND I WILL NOT SHIP. This bike is listed locally, so I reserve the right to end auction early if sold outside ebay. Thank you for looking. Also have a Clymer repair manual to go with it and owners manual.
