Here is my 2001 S-10 that I have owned since 5-14-07. I bought it with 47,727 miles on it. I work far from home and used this truck for commuting, all the miles are highway miles. I have run Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W-30 in it since I bought it and religiously changed the oil every 5000 miles. I had regular tune ups and followed the maintenance schedule and took very good care of it. I just put a brand new radiator in it less than 1000 miles ago which cost $113. At 144,470 (less than 2000 miles ago) miles I put 4 brand new 45,000 warrantied tires on it which were $300. THESE ARE BRAND NEW. It also had a new starter recently and a complete tuneup which cost about $400. Recently it broke down close to home and I had it towed home. A friend of mine is a mechanic and he did some diagnostic testing and found that the head gasket was blown. He disassembled the top end and took the head off. The intake valve on the 3rd cylinder has a little damage. There is no damage to the piston. He said it could be repaired or a rebuilt head bought for about $200. He said the only other parts needed to put it back together is a head gasket which is about $20 and an exhaust manifold gasket which is about $10. So the head is off and the radiator out, and other parts taken off to get the head off. I watched him and it was pretty simple and didn't take long at all. I had to buy a vehicle right away to get to work and do not have the time or money to have my mechanic put it back together We examined the cylinders and they look brand new with no scores or marks and everything else looks good. FOR A COUPLE HUNDRED BUCKS YOU CAN FIX IT AND HAVE A DECENT TRUCK WITH MANY NEW PARTS THAT YOU WILL GET MANY MORE MILES OUT OF OR FIX AND SELL TO MAKE A GOOD PROFIT ON BECAUSE THESE TRUCKS SELL WELL AND GET GOOD GAS MILEAGE. The truck is in good shape for being 10 years old. It has tinted windows, a bedliner, the A.C. is ice cold, interior is clean. the front bumper has a little damage and its starting to rust a little but nothing major, and scratches and a couple small dents here and there.
