1992 FORD TEMPO GLS 4DR. This "Sleeper" is Tempo's version of Ford's famous Mustang SVO or Taurus SHO. This well maintained survivor is being offered for sale by the original owner. The GLS has slightly less than 93,000 original miles. This car has always been maintained by a car enthusiast. It is all original without any modifications, and all accessories are in working order. It runs & drives like it did when I bought it new (in March 1993 from Sound Ford in Renton, WA). It has never been in any type of accident. It does have some minor parking lot dings. It has only been driven in western Washington (not kept near salt water) and the body is rust free. The original paint is a tri-coat and the clear coat was thin on the roof center line and on the trunk lid. The weather has damaged the clear coat surface in these areas. Please see photos. The GLS has unbelievable performance. It is comparable with the original Shelby designed Sunbeam Tiger. It weighs about 75% of the standard Taurus but has the same "Vulcan" 3.0L EFI V-6 and 5 speed manual transmission. Zero to 60 mph time is reported to be 7.7 sec. The quarter mile in 16.1 sec at 85 mph, with a top speed of 122 mph. Source: http:/ford-tempo.zoomshare/6.html. The GSL also has a heavy duty suspension and corners like a prepared auto-crosser. This car has never been raced. The clutch does not slip and the 5-speed transmission shift is tight and smooth. It still gets about 26 mpg on regular gas. The 1992 GLS has become the most sought-after in the entire 11 year production run of the Tempo. 1992 was the only year GLS to have all these features: 1. V-6 electronic fuel injection engine 2. MTX-TV 5-speed manual transaxle 3. Thicker front anti-roll bar 4. Rear anti-roll bar 5. Integrated ground effects package 6. Standard fog lights 7. 15" x 6" 8-spoke aluminum wheels, originaly with 185/60R15 Firestone tires (car now has four 195/60R15 Michelin M&S MXV4 Plus XSE tires.) 8. 120 mph speedometer 9. Dual exhaust outlets through rear bumper. Additional equipmentr on this car: 1. Air conditioning 2. Power; Steering, Brakes (front disc), Windows, Door Locks, Adjusted Driver's Seat 3. Leather wrapped tilit steering wheel 4. Cassette AM_FM stero radio 5. Color, Bimini Blue M C/C (It is the samecolor used in the 1992 Ford sales brochure.) 6. Cruise control.
