Vehicle Detail
Up for bids we have a 1974 CB750 Four in Orange Flake. The bike has been my daily driver for the last year. Mechanical issues are: The electric start does not work (I think it needs a new solinoid) but it starts on the first kick every time. The tach lights need to be replaced.... easy. One exhaust end cap/baffel is missing but it has no effect on performance (see photo of rear tail pipes). If you choose to use the back rest it needs a small tack weld done on the underside. The seat pictured stays in place but is from a latter model and does not hinge or lock. The second seat pictured has the original pan with after market cover and does hinge and lock. One of the engine guards is cracked slightly near its upper bolt. I would take them both off. Needs a oil change & filter. Cosmetic issues are: There are a couple of dings in the front fender. There is a repaired stable crack in one side cover (see pic - needs touch up paint) There is a ding and some fading on one side of the tank, not bad but there. There is a small tear on each seat. There is a lot of surface rust on the inside edges and bottom sides of the tailpipes. There is some very light surface rust on some nuts, bolts and springs which will disappear with a little elbow grease. The aluminum could use some polishing. It needs a good bath. Overall: The bike runs very strong and does not smoke, use or burn oil. The front tire is a old TT100 Dunlop made in England. It's lights & signals work except the tach bulbs which costs $5 and take ten minutes to fix. It comes with a extra tank that may work well for a cafe project if you choose that over restoring it to original. I bought it 1 year ago at 28k and change, it now has 31293 and has given me no trouble in that period of time. The engine runs smooth but a carb adjustment would help as there is a very small lag getting into the power band. Nice old mechanical carbs. It looks good overall, not perfect but presentable. Clear title in hand. Perfect project bike or ride as is. Do not bid if you are not serious. Full payment is due in 48 hours from auction close.
