Vehicle Detail
Hi. I don’t know much about this 928 except for the numbers I ran from the engine. I bought it as a project car about four months ago and haven't been able to get to it with too many other projects. Please note that the mileage is for the car and not for the engine. The engine runs very well, and the exhaust has a wonderful rolling rumble to it, idling at 1000 rpms. The Chevy 350 ZZ4 engine seems to be a good fit for the car; it has a good bit more horsepower (this car would have had the 239 hp U.S. engine), it is noticeably smaller so it fits in the engine compartment well, and it has gotten lighter. I weighed the car at a truck weigh station, reading 3,310 lbs., and the stock weight is 3,439 lbs., losing 129 lbs and gaining quite a bit of power. In 1984 Porsche advertised the 928 as the fastest production car in all of North America, so this one must go like stink. Here are the engine specs: Engine specs: Chevy ZZ4 small block crate motor 350 cubic in., 5.7 liter 355 hp w/ 400(!) ft. lbs. of torque four bolt main roller cam one piece rear seal Edelbrock Performer series electronic choke carburetor Edelbrock high-rise intake manifoldSpectre air filters and intake The interior is a bit rough, with a cracked dash pad, but the seats are very comfortable. It has a brand new windshield and a freshly rebuilt battery (both at the same time I bought the car.) It is missing the cover for the sunroof motor. There is a Pioneer CD player with remote, MP3 input, and a detachable faceplate. The right rear turn signal has some crossed wires. The only things I've done to the car have been to paint the brake calipers with G2 two-part epoxy caliper paint and polish the engine air intake. The sunroof fairing needs to be adjusted, as you have to hold it down when closing the electric sunroof. On the exterior there are a few dingles, but they look to be pretty minor, the most notable being the front right corner. There are quite a few photos to show it. All in all, though, this is a gorgeous car. The factory Porsche color is called platinum metallic, and a car cover is included. The wheels and tires are pretty impressive. The 19" Race Inc. wheels from Wheel Dynamics look great, and are shod with Hankook Ventus V12 Evo tires, 235/35ZR19 front and 275/30ZR19 rear. I was pretty stoked to look at the Wheel Dynamics website ( http://www.wheeldynamics.com/wheels.php ) and see this very same car. It is about a third of the way down (I've removed the black Porsche emblem license plate, as Washington requires a license plate in the front as well.) If you'd like the black emblem plate, let me know and I'll include it. Thank you for looking. Being as this is a project car that is listed locally as well, I'm selling it as-is and reserve the right to end the auction early. The reserve price is set at $4200, and there is a $4400 buy-it-now price. I'm happy to deliver to a shipper, and please let me know if you have any questions. On Sep-27-11 at 01:10:05 PDT, seller added the following information: I've lowered the reserve price to $3000.
