1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SL Roadster production number 679! No Reserve!! Here is the chance to own one of the most beautiful roadsters that Mercedes-Benz ever made -1972 Mercedes Benz 350SL roadster! What makes this car stand out from the rest, is that this Mercedes was build in August of 1971 as a 1972 model, and it is a production number 679 which makes it one of the first W107 Mercedes that rolled of the production line!! 1971 was the first year of this body style, and W107 chassis of the 280, 350, 380, 450 and 560SLs was one of the longest running production bodies in the Diamler-Benz AG's line. Although most W107s are extremely well built and collectable, the most desirable and collectable of the W107s is the 1971/1972 350SL with its features such as short bumpers and higher horse-power. It is also the first V8 powered two-seater to be built at the Stuttgart, Germany factory. Also what makes 350SL so desirable to Collectors and Mercedes enthusiasts is the increased U.S. emissions and safety requirements starting in 1973 causing later models to be fitted with special bigger crash bumpers and emissions control systems resulting in reduced overall look, performance and horse-power. This Mercedes was purchased few years ago with the intention to do full restoration, but as the time that I need to devote to this car is a luxury that I do not have at the moment, I need to find her a good home. Before it was parked 10+ years ago this car was running, but now, as it sat for too long it will need some TLC before any attempts are made to start it up again. This Mercedes is a fun project, and it is perfect for somebody who wants to do a full restoration, and have a wonderful show car and the investment, OR for somebody who can fix it up to be their daily driver, and then slowly restore it to its full beauty at their own pace!! Walkaround: This Mercedes has been sitting for 10+ years and the time took its toll on its paint and body. There is rust on the body and on the under carriage (please see pictures), but the good thing is that replacement sheet metal parts including the floor boards are readily available, and they are not that expensive. Original seats are in good condition and are comfortable and very supportive and door panels are in great shape as well. Everything is there down to its Kienzle Clock!!
