Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1983 GMC Sierra K1500 4x4 Pickup. The photos pretty much tell the story. It's been a farm truck most of its life, used to haul tools and fuel to combines and tractors. I have had the truck since January of 2011. I am only selling it because I'm not using it and my son is too much of a princess to drive it. It's a good old used 4x4 pick up. The mileage is unknown. The odometer doesn't work and/or isn't hooked up. The motor was replaced in early 1993 according to the papers in the glove box. The maintenance seemed to be all done by a local dealer who stated the mileage at the time of replacement was already in the 6 figures (I don't recall the number, but it is in the glove box). The motor is tight and doesn't leak oil. There is a little leaking from the power steering pump, however. As long as there's some heat in the motor it fires right up, with no smoke. It will however throw black smoke going up a hill pulling a trailer. The glow plugs work fine, but the relay is going bad. It needs to be replaced, a momentary switch installed, or what I do: a jumper cable across the relay. I have put nearly 6000 miles on the truck since January 2011. I have gotten as good as 21 mpg highway at 75 mph (according to gps). There is an overdrive transmission, which helps the fuel mileage. There are two fuel tanks which hold a combined 46 gallons of diesel. The passenger side tank is brand new, and the fuel gauge works for both tanks. The front two tires are new and have but maybe 3000 miles on them. They are the original size. The rear wheels are a slightly larger size and have fair tread. I have not used the 4x4 since putting the mismatched tires on it. I know it's not good on the transfer case. The 4x4 does work well; I needed it this spring several times with the bad tires. There is a spare tire mounted on a matching rim. The tire size is the same as the rears. The rim is not in great shape, hence, it's there for emergency purposes. The driver side front rim is brand new...bought when I purchased the tires. All of the gauges work: oil, volt, temp, fuel, and speedo. The odometer, as mentioned, doesn't. The interior dome light works, as does the radio and the cigarette lighter. To the best of my knowledge the truck has never been smoked in. None of the previous owners were smokers, nor am I. The lighter has no burn marks on it, nor are there any burn marks in the rubber floor nor the cloth bench. There is no AC. This was a factory AC delete which adds the nice kick panel vents which move a ton of air. The paint, or lack thereof...well, look at the pictures. There is some rust around the wheel wells in the rear. But overall the body of the truck is in good shape. The rear bumper is heavy duty and will hold something like a 5000# tongue weight and 15,000# towing. Certainly more than what the truck can do. I have had a 16' stock trailer on with 2 horses in the trailer with no problems whatsoever. There are, however, no provisions currently for a trailer light plug in. To that end, with the Buy it Now option, I will offer the blue 2 horse trailer seen in the pictures with the truck. The trailer has no title and needs a little bit of work. It comes with all the lights you'd ever need to replace all of the lights on it. The floor is in good shape. The "c" pillar (driver side rear) needs welded as does the middle divider gate. Neither thing is major. Structurally the trailer is in good shape. Wheels, tires, and bearings are good. There is a spare tire that has never been on the ground. There are no brakes on either axle. To be clear, the auction is for the pickup. The Buy it Now price will include the trailer if so desired. If you don't want the trailer, I'll gladly keep it. This would make a great rodeo package in the spring. Buy it now, use the 4x4 in the winter, fix the trailer, and have a great way to haul your animals to rodeos or shows in the spring. I'll answer any questions that you have, so please don't hesitate to ask. I'm happy to provide specific pictures if you'd like. I wouldn't have a problem taking this combo 300 or so miles...it would probably need the trailer lights working however to be "legal." I do have a clear title in hand for the pickup. On Sep-16-11 at 08:38:23 PDT, seller added the following information: I am still open to the Buy it Now option. I am unsure of way it disappeared once a bid was placed. I haven't "eBayed" for awhile, so please be patient while I work to reactivate the BIN option. Thanks for your patience and understanding.-Ben.On Sep-16-11 at 09:10:39 PDT, seller added the following information: eBay Motors has advised me to remind bidders that the auction is for the truck only. Once the $2250 BIN price (that disappeared) is reached, the trailer will go with the truck. If you are interested in buying the package for $2250, please email me and we can discuss it. Thanks again.
