Vehicle Detail
Thank you for looking at our auction as we have a good one here NO RESERVE it will sell. It is a solid 1968 Plymouth GTX it is a real RS23 car. The car was a 440 console auto car with an 8 ¾ rear. This is a very good starting point for someone who wants to finish the project. I purchased the car for its motor and trans as they had taken the original #’s matching 440 and stroked it out to 500 inches and put Indy heads on it with an 8-71 blower, they spent over $15,000 on the motor and trans and this theme carried thoughout this build as they did not cut corners and spent too much money on the car. I have figured it several times and they had over $40,000 in this car counting motor and transmission. This car DOES NOT come with the motor or tranmission because I am using those on a v-code challenger I am building. The point I am trying to get across is they did not skimp or cut corners on this car as it was a 10 year project and they had planned on keeping it forever but ran into issues and had to sell it. This car is being sold as a roller with no motor or trans. But this car has already had all the body work, suspension, 8 ¾ rearend, dash, fuel system and brakes completely redone and upgraded in many cases. The body is done in primer and is ready to block sand and paint. They have painted the engine bay already as they were going to go Orange with the whole car but stopped at this point. It is originally a Sunfire Yellow car with a black top 440 auto with 8 3/4 rearend. The car has its original fender tag, build sheet, and even the certicard that came with it in the glovebox. The body numbers on the car also match on the radiator support and trunk deck. The car has a current bonded Nebraska title. I have a book with over $7000 in receipts for work done on this car. Plus there are many things done to the car that they could not locate the receipts for like $11,000 for the body work and undercoating, $1900 for rebuilt 8 ¾ bearing to bearing with 3.23 sure grip, plus the original cost of the car so they had over $25,000 in this car just the way I am selling it without the motor and trans. Like I said I wanted the motor and trans out of this car so here is your chance to buy a very nice roller project GTX that has most of the hard stuff already done for pennies on the dollar of what they spent. Here is a list of what they did to the car: Suspension/ Brakes Completely rebuilt with polygraphite super kit, new rear 7/8 sway bar, new 1 1/8 front sway bar, 1.03 torsion bar. Rear and front gas adjust shocks New rear Leaf Springs Rebuilt master brake unit New brake lines front to back and rebuilt brakes front and back Powedercoated K member Body 1. Body was soda blasted to bare metal 2. new trunk floor 3. quarter panels replaced 4. car is undercoated with new polyurethane undercoating under the whole car 5. the body is all primered and ready to block sand and paint 6. engine bay is painted orange as they were going to do the whole car that color 7. Rechromed bumpers front and back and chromed GTX rear panel 8. there is no rust anywhere on this car as it is ready to paint, great solid floors, trunk and framerails. No suprises here just a very solid car. Rearend 1. completely rebuilt bearing to bearing, 3.23 suregrip, powdercoated. Fuel sytem 1. New tank 2. new sending unit 3. new oversized hard fuel lines from tank to engine bay Interior 1. seats are all there, glass is all there, trim is all there. It all needs to be recovered or cleaned but it is all there. 2. center console has the glove box and end cover and shifter cover all chrome plated. 3. Dashpad was replaced and the whole dash was rebuilt with all the gauges rebuilt and bench tested. I am sure I am missing something as they have done ALOT to car, actually too much. There is no radiator as they were going to install an aluminum one so it will need a radiator. The hood also is off a 68 roadrunner and has some bondo issues as they wanted a hood to cut up for the blower to go through but that comes with the car but it might be as easy to get a reproduction hood as it would be to fix this one. But this is a great starting point for someone looking for an easy to finish project car. If you have any questions feel free to email me.
