This was the 'daily driver' of a motoring enthusiast and professional driver who recently passed away. The vehicle is in the original stock condition with the exception of updated Alpine CD receiver model CDM-7861. All features and options are working flawlessly and the air conditioning has been upgraded to present day green standards. Virtually every mechanical component of this car has been gone through, rebuilt or replaced as needed. All service records since new and repair invoices included. Engine was last overhauled at around 380,000 miles. Automatic transmission rebuilt at 308,000 miles. Regular transmission and mechanical services since day 1. Constant attention to all systems by an experienced mechanic and professional driver. Brakes, suspension, drive train, in- and exterior all meticulously maintained. This vehicle is in fabulous mechanical condition, gets excellent fuel mileage and does not burn or drip oil. ??It simply drives and handles like a new car. There is no shimy in the front end at 100 MPH. Fast and fun to drive. There is positively no rust on the car as the car has never been driven in winter conditions. The body is in excellent shape with only very minor scratches and 2 door dings. The interior is in excellent clean condition and the seats and headliner are not damaged or torn. All the rubber is either in excellent condition or recently replaced with original parts. The T-tops are in exceptional condition and seal tightly. There are no sun cracks in the original dash board as it has been protected by a dash pad since new. Owners manual and full service history included as are a 280ZX front end bra and car cover. The miles on this car are primarily freeway and the result of extended road trips between Southern California and British Columbia. This was one of several sports cars owned and maintained by Mr. Francis. Obviously it was his favorite for freeway driving and extended outings. On Sep-12-11 at 07:09:51 PDT, seller added the following information: Just to answer a series of similar questions we have received regarding this listing: PAINT: This is the original factory color for this car but it has been repainted once. Included in the service records is an invoice from Danny Terry Autobody & Paint in Ventura, CA. for a complete repaint of this 280ZX in September of 2000. From the invoice it is clear that door dings and damage to the front bumper ("tears and holes") are the issue. The work order clearly calls out refinish exterior complete with underside of hood, rear deck and jambs. There is a subsequent work order from Martinez Body Shop in Oxnard dated October 2009 for repair to the rear bumper and left quarter panel following a minor rear end collision. No damage is evident today. The paint work matches perfectly. AIR CONDITIONING: I need to correct specifics regarding the air conditioning system. The invoice for replacement of the A/C compressor in 2001 with 337,470 miles on the odometer includes a complete overhaul of the system but calls out R 12 FREON. We must assume that this is how the system remains charged to this day. I have been asked to take the car on a prolonged drive and test all functions. Will do so later this week and report back. My experience driving the car during last week's heat wave was that the A/C was performing perfectly. REAR AXLES: There are two invoices from Team Nissan, Ventura both dated November 2002 for the removal and rebuild of the drive line and both rear axles. The odometer reading at that time was 363,640 miles. TITLE: The original California DMV Pink Slip is unencumbered and can be signed over to the winning bidder by a close family member with legal authority. The California registration is current up through January 2012. There are no outstanding fees.
