AWARD WINNING FRAME-OFF RESTORED 1969 TRIUMPH TR-6 WITH DUAL STROMBERG CARBS, OVERDRIVE Restored by the late Dave Francis and entered in several sports car shows and conventions. Multiple award winner including Best TR6 and Best Car in Show. Dave had restored a number of Triumphs (TR3, TR4 AND TR6) since the 1960's as well as other vehicles. Members of Southern California Triumph clubs will likely be familiar with Dave and this car. He had driven it for a mere 12,000 miles after this restoration. We will also be offering Dave's pristine Nissan 280ZX and a Mercedes-Benz 280SL in concurrent auctions here on eBay. DRIVETRAIN: The engine was blueprinted and professionally rebuilt and balanced by Auto Specialties of Thousand Oaks. Appropriate new pistons, rocker, valves as well. New timing chain, oil pump and water pump. Spin-on oil filter adapter to prevent bottom-end engine damage during startup. The carbs are Stromberg downdrafts. The exhaust is through headers and stainless. The A-type overdrive transmission was also rebuilt. All synchros work perfectly. Overdrive in third and forth gears clicks right in with a flick of the column switch. New clutch, clutch master cylinder, lines, slave cylinder and throw out bearing. Gear reduction starter for better quicker starts every time. New differential mounts and reinforcing plate. New front and rear wheel bearings. Rebuilt rear hubs. All suspension mounts and U-joints replaced. An alternate Monza dual exhaust is also included in sale. This vehicle has been pampered and carefully operated for 12,000 miles since this ground up rebuild. SUSPENSION: Tuned, aligned and balanced by Howery's, Ventura. Koni front shocks. Rebuilt, stiffer rear lever shocks. Front and rear anti-sway bars on urethane bushings. Pirelli P400 Size 205/65 R15 radials on 15" wires. Rebuilt front brake calipers. New lines and wheel cylinders. Brakes converted to Dot 5 Fluid. BODY: Photographic history of restoration is included as are $22,000.00 plus in restoration invoices. This was a rust-free California car with 137,000 miles of minor body damage from city driving. Any significant Bondo was removed and replaced with new metal panels (not filler). All panels were smoothed-no waves. After primer, the car was sprayed with correct Triumph periwinkle blue in several coats plus clear coat. After wet sanding, you can see no orange peel or any fish-eyes...just great reflections. Panels replaced include both front fenders and left quarter panel. The floors in this roadster were virtually rust-free. Windshield frame and rear valance painted correct "semi-flat" black. A new windshield and all new rubber trim and gaskets throughout. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: All electrical components operating as intended. All gauges, warning lights, and swiTches are properly illuminated and work great. Very strong oil pressure. Engine runs cool. Alternator charges without issue. Hi-note / low-note horn from The Roadster factory. EXTERIOR TRIM: New convertible top from The Roadster Factory is in great condition. No rips or flaws. The windows are clear and the rear zips out for better ventilation. New rubber trim everywhere, around doors (with correct fuzzy trim attached), trunk and engine. Even new rubber and chrome around and under the toughest area-the windshield! Excellent chrome: all new bumpers with over-riders, glamour rings, bullet mirror, door handles, and Lemans fuel filler cap. Luggage rack of chrome and blonde wood gleams nicely. Deep black accent with white pin-striping (removable) makes for a remarkable contrast with the periwinkle blue factory color. INTERIOR TRIM: The complete interior was replaced with new. Looks factory. New Wilton wool carpets for the Roadster Factory. Thick. Black. Deep. New trim panels all around: doors, rear, doglegs, B-piller supports, etc. New burled wood dash. New pull knobs. All dash pads and dash support in excellent condition. Cardboard transmission tunnel covers now replaced with heavy gauge plastic (no more oily carpets). PERFORMANCE: The engine is strong and smooth, coupled with a sonorous, throaty exhaust note. The steering is firm and responsive. The brakes are smooth and straight, no vibrations or pulls. The trans shifts quickly under a strong clutch and the gears move positively into place. ADDITIONAL ITEMS: The car comes with current California Title and registration. No smog check required. In addition to the complete service records since 2003, photographic history of the body restoration, tonneau cover, car cover, large box of spare parts, and spare Monza dual exhaust - there is also a factory hardtop with new rubber and good glass. It has been restored and primed but not yet painted. Please note that the Canada emblem seen on the front bumper over-rider is NOT included in this sale as a family member wishes to keep this one item as a momento.
