Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 0 1 539 3077 25 6 3778 11.1539 0 0 0 One owner, documented 79K mile, rust free California desert vehicle since new Acquired from the original 91year old owner who hasn’t been able to drive for over 2 years. Purchased new in Yucca Valley, CA and operated there and in Trona, CA (also a dry desert climate) since new, the body and undercarriage are in exceptional cancer free condition. Unfortunately, it has also been used as a truck and shows some fixable exterior paint and cosmetic blemishes. It is perfectly functional as is, and drives exceptionally rattle free for a 25 year old vehicle, but a quality repaint and detailing will yield a show winner. The following itemizes the minor cosmetic damages observed and generally follows the photo sequence provided with the eBay listing: 1. Left front fender—small dent/crease in fender crown, small dent in wheel molding and fender under the molding. 2. Driver door—minor bend on rear edge and small ding ahead of door handle. Sun damage to door and window seals. 3. Rear quarter panels—both rear quarters were repainted for reasons that are not apparent. There is no evidence of damage in the box area or under the car. A magnet does not indicate body filler, and paint scratches reveal the original silver paint confirming that the panels were not replaced. Otherwise, the left wheel molding has some scuffing/scratches that are probably fixable and all bed top rails are dented and probably easier replaced than repaired. The right side molding is good and the lower molding is dented. 4. Tailgate—good except for top molding as noted above, missing fuel injection emblem and small ding right of the license plate area. Box is very good with only minor denting on the wheel box areas and scratching from use. Also minor dings in the back window trim molding. 5. Passenger door and molding—multiple dings from repeated contact from another car door likely parked in the same area. Door and window seals are OK. 6. Right front fender—no damage, minor molding scratches should buff out. 7. Windshield and hood—Good, hood paint is original and faded, windshield is newer and good. 8. Front bumper, grille, etc.—other than original paint are excellent. 9. Interior—overall is excellent with minor cracking in the dash pad left of the instrument clutter. Factory radio has been replaced with an Audiovox. There is one BB size hole in the faux suede driver’s seat that looks like possible smoking damage, however the ashtray and lighter appear new and never used. There is no smoking odor. The imitation chrome trim on the doors is peeling and the driver’s seat belt and door strap are missing trim covers. Some dash vents are loose, and the center console cover attachment is broken—appears to have been some sort of plastic/vinyl hinge. Otherwise the interior is very good and only needs cleaning and detailing. 10. Engine compartment—all original, stock and complete. Missing the plastic covers on the A/C ports. Otherwise, everything appears factory original and unmolested. The engine is the 4.3 literV6 with fuel injection with 3-speed auto transmission. It runs and drives very well, but slowly. For those wanting more performance, it can be easily upgraded to a TPI or later motor as the fuel injection tank, pump and lines are factory installed greatly simplifying the conversion. Overall, finding a 1 owner 25-year old car with only 79,000 verifiable actual miles is unusual. That it is a desirable Chevrolet El Camino with exceptional parts availability and assured appreciation is a definite opportunity. The reserve is set fairly considering the needed paint and trim repairs and the rarity of a low mileage, cancer free and drivable classic.
