Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 69 Pontiac GTO that was just treated to a meticulous frame off restoration. Every nut and bolt on this car has been touched multiple times. All the drivetrain is what it came with from the factory. 400 motor 400 auto trans and 10 bolt rear. Everything on the car has either been restored or replaced. Body and frame were both blasted for paint and rust removal. Body work that had to be done was partial front passenger side floor pan, partial trunk pan, inner and out wheelhouses on both sides, partial quarters. Rear panel below rear glass was replaced, under front windshield just need a little patch. All work done by professional, no visible welds on any of the replacements. Front end was treated to new hood, fenders, inner fenders, lower valance, and radiator core support. Front endura bumper is an original and looks great. Special attention to body lines and gaps was taken for a nice look all the way down the car. The spoiler is not original to the car. Trunk lid and doors are the originals and were in very good shape before restoration. The paint is PPG products basecoat/clearcoat system. Color is Liberty Blue, original color is Warwick Blue. The rest of the exterior has new grills, emblems, rear bumper, light bezels etc. The chrome and stainless on the car was either replace with new or refinished. The drivetrain for the car is all original. The YS coded 400 was completely rebuilt from top to bottom. It was bored .30 over, new pistons and rings, cam and crank bearings, crank was turned, one size bigger cam from stock and a oil pump. The heads also got a complete rebuild. Motor has the original intake manifold, Quadrajet carb (rebuilt), distributor, and exhaust manifolds. Transmission is a code PX automatic turbo 400. It also was disassembled, rebuilt and detailed for original look. The rear end is a rare XB code with 2.56 limited locking gears. All date codes are very close to each other. Motor is B 10 9 cylinder heads A 14 9 and A 31 9 intake manifold B 03 9 transmission A 24 9 rear differential B 02 9 Carb number is 7029268, distributor 1111946. Engine compartment and frame are detailed like it came off the showroom floor. The engine compartment shows off very well with the factory chrome valve covers and air cleaner lid. Factory markings were reproduced and set off the factory looking look. Firewall markings were present before restoration so they were copied and put back the exact same. Plug wires are date coded correct, all hoses and clamps were put back original. 4 core radiator was installed because original was to far gone and for the extra cooling capacity. The original looking decals were also put on to finish up the look. The interior has had almost everything replaced. A new restored dash was put in using original guages and all new trim pieces. Center counsel is original with a few new parts. The seats had new foam, covers, bottom skirts and seat backs. New door panels and all the things that go on them are new. Carpet, headliner, rear shelf panel and door sill plates make this a very fresh original looking interior. While the body was off, new fuel and brake lines were put on front to back and side to side. New fuel tank, sending unit and pump. The brakes got everything new replaced also, booster, master cylinder, calipers, rotors (front), pads, drums, shoes and all the hardware. Suspension got a complete overhaul, new sway bar end links, shocks front and rear, springs front and rear. Steering also got tightened up with new tie rods and ends. Steering is tight going down the road. The rims are the original JA coded 14" ralley II's. They were restored original colors and added new lug nuts, center caps and stainless steel trim rings. Tires are brand new also. The car was restored with originality and dependability in mind. It runs and drives excellent, I wouldn't hesitate to take it cross country. It will definately win some trophies at the car shows also. When restoring the car I found a rental car sticker on the inside of the glove box door. Wether or not it was or not I can't say for sure. Might explain the gear ratio. I took a picture of it in case I was able to find something out about it. Car has about 200 miles on it since finishing to make sure everything is up to par. It is a very fun and easy car to drive. People flock around it and love the originality of it. Not too often you'll find a 69 GTO freshly restored and this original.
