Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1990 Lotus Esprit SE Turbo in original silver with leather interior. This is truly one of those cases where my wife had another baby so I had to sell mine. In fact, I saw this as a car I would keep forever, especially since it took me quite a while to find a silver version in great shape, but the reality of seven years ownership has made me realize that I have less and less time to drive it, and that I can’t justify neither the space nor the upkeep anymore. I guess I don’t have to introduce the car as those of you searching for it knows about its performance and handling already. The 90 and the 91 are the last years of the model before it got the new rounded design, that at least I found less desirable. For technical data and specifications please see Wikipedia. I've put on what I regard to be a modest reserve as I'm at this point a reasonably motivated seller, although I wouldn't want it to go for a lucky shot bid. The car runs great and is to the best of my knowledge still in very good shape, and feels more like a 5-6 year old car than one that is over 20. The only things that are not original is the carbon fiber dash and the steering wheel with carbon fiber trim, which looks fantastic compared to the original if I may say so, and I’m a purist when it comes to cars. I made a very thorough service at Viking Motorsport in Cosa Mesa, CA when I bought the car in 2004, as well as changed all four tires. I’ve driven it less than 2,000 miles since then, I’m sad to say most often a quarterly maintenance loop around the neighborhood, and it has always been stored in garage. It recently passed the California smog test without problems, and I have the complete service record and owners guide. As the enthusiastic new owner I once was I bought the service manual and parts manual for it, which I will include in the sale. There is a dent/crack in the front spoiler where the previous owner (I swear) hit a parking curb, and according to Viking Motorsport whom I had test driving the car before I bought it, it was not a concern, but I never got around fixing it. Looking close, there are some small marks on the bumpers, a little dent that has been retouched on the back wing and an area of emerging rust on the passenger window frame. The AC work but needs a refill now and then so presumably has a small leak somewhere. Other than that I can't think of anything but feel free to email me with questions.
